Sorry I am too lazy to take another pic. This pic was for Bluesky and other forums for pick ups threads.  I been cleaning all day. I mainly posting this pic for Hi-Fi Rush. 2 year wait was worth to get the physical. That is just one of those special games you need to hold a copy in your hand.

(Btw whoever owned MUA2 before me left their Gamestop receipt from 2009 in there and a print out of unlocking secrets)

Sell me on Heavy Metal L Gain. I am interested in it but know nothing about it.

Not watched yet but from the creator of Gundam I believe and another staff member went to create 5 Star Stories.  Not to mention this killer theme song.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Can't believe the timing of my thread, hope crushed a few days after making it as if it was a telling of what was about to come.

Sony really just announced an all digital future for Playstation a week after announcing it would remove digital only content people bought on Playstation, and in the same day the announced the PS3 and Vita stores definitive closure.

What felt like a threat when I made this thread has turned into the mostly likely scenario within less than a week.

Now let's see how many of us complain, then proceed to purchase digital copies instead. I'm sure that will teach Sony a lesson!

As I said there are also thousands of more games digitally than physically, so of course it will be higher. I will be looking at individual games. If Wolverine on Playstation sell 80% digitally, then I will agree that its dire.

I'm sure its really not that dire... wait a minute.

Yeah, I was maybe a bit optimistic on this one..

So even in the link it says that in the UK(dont know why they only tracked it in one country) it says its at 64% when it comes to digital over physical. Its just all over the place with these numbers. They dont take into account used game sales either which are a huge part of the overall game sales. From Gamestop to Ebay.

Its high for sure, but Im not worried. Its all about how you look at it.

So what are your thoughts now? lol

My thought is that Nintendo is about to dominate.

The majority will buy digital because that's what they have been doing for years now, so I dunno if we'll ever know if people are jumping to digital or its just the same majority of people still buying those games.

There need to be laws put in place to protect consumer rights regarding digital games.

Now that things are going fully digital hopefully we can push for a license period with DRM, and then console/PC platforms move games to DRM-free x # of months or years after release.

GOG has shown that this model works.

Then we can just make our own backups on SSDs.

I'd imagine platform holders would make more money this way too, because they might be able to price the DRM-free version for higher or as an extra.

The only risk are for platform holders who are also very protective of their IP, but that mostly just describes Nintendo and they've found their alternative route where they are still mostly true physical for their 1st party titles because their games are relatively asset sparse and suitable for compression.

It sucks for collectors and people who like to resell their games though. Maybe a digital platform holder can figure out a way to resell digital copies for a % of the sale ( Ebay + paypal would take like 13%, so maybe that is the upper bound?)

I hope what you're describing works out.

By digital platform holders you meant the big three console makers?

I believe I've seen suggestions regarding this for a long time. I seriously doubt it's a technical issue first and foremost. I think it's that publishers have no incentives to enable reselling digital copies, and it's probably pretty hard to come up with any without laws or something mandating it.
