Me too, until 2028 I won't stop buying physical games for the PS5.
If by then Nintendo is still providing full games physically I'll also keep buying them, other companies don't seem to have much interest on it there, but Nintendo games is the reason I buy Nintendo systems so at least they holding to it works out for me for their system.

Same. And I am def buying Earthion Mega Drive when pre-orders go up.
I think someone like Limited Run Games might step in with a console of their own. The best games they release arent big AAA games anyway, so it wouldnt need to be very powerful. Maybe not with the current state the industry is in with expensive components, but in a few years if things get better.

If Sony stop Blu-ray disc production they won't have from who to buy them, tho.
They will have to look for some other media to store games, and I don't think entering the console market is easy even for an already decently successful small company. Not impossible but Ouya tried to be an indie console and it flopped so much.

Well Evercade is doing pretty good. I think it caters to a niche audience, but could become more popular when people start missing them. Like what happened with manuals.

Honest question as I've heard about Evercade recently but never actually looked at it: does it support physical media? If so, in which format?

I feel the same way. I'll keep looking for cool games and collecting as best as I can.

Yes, they are smaller cartridges. They have a console, a handheld and a tabletop arcade(which is the one I own)
Beyond the functional options physical media provide, I have so many memories of sharing PS disks with friends and going further back, even notes on those end sections of some manuals.
Like a couple of weeks ago I popped open SF6 and a friend yelled "new game smell".
This gen is fucking us over 10 different ways but this one probably hits the hardest so far.
