PS6 confirmed only digital I guess.
We need more information and if the rumoured removable disc drive is still a thing. Will third party devs still offer discs or will they become more of boutique release? Will I be able to play my PS4/5 games on PS6 if they are disc only? Regardless if PS6 is a $1000 digital only console then bye bye PlayStation, it was a good run but I'll move to PC.

I could see Sony selling an external disc drive for silly profit but for BC only

I mainly posting this pic for Hi-Fi Rush. 2 year wait was worth to get the physical. That is just one of those special games you need to hold a copy in your hand. (Btw whoever owned MUA2 before me left their Gamestop receipt from 2009 in there and a print out of unlocking secrets)

Sell me on Heavy Metal L Gain. I am interested in it but know nothing about it.
Well, it's over, Playstation is dead starting on 01/01/2028.

So even in the link it says that in the UK(dont know why they only tracked it in one country) it says its at 64% when it comes to digital over physical. Its just all over the place with these numbers. They dont take into account used game sales either which are a huge part of the overall game sales. From Gamestop to Ebay. Its high for sure, but Im not worried. Its all about how you look at it. |
So what are your thoughts now? lol

Steam didn't replace DRM-free physical PC games. DRM has been around for the majority of PC games years before the launch of Steam. Both as CD-ROM copy protection (which is often no longer supported by modern operating systems) and as limited activation attempts using CD keys (where the activation servers for individual games have been shut down for several years and the respective publishers often no longer exist).
SecuROM (from Sony, by the way) was a nuisance in both versions.
Steam was a significant improvement over the proliferation of individual activation servers, SecuROM, SafeDisc, Tagès, StarForce, and so on. By the way, tens of thousands of games on Steam are completely DRM-free.

As I said there are also thousands of more games digitally than physically, so of course it will be higher. I will be looking at individual games. If Wolverine on Playstation sell 80% digitally, then I will agree that its dire. |
I'm sure its really not that dire... wait a minute.
