Ps5 increasing!
June is probably the first month for Switch 2 where Switch 2 sales in Europe has been higher than they are in Japan.
Looks like Switch 1/2 and PS5 bottomed out, seems like 25k, 8500k and 5000k are roughly the baselines of the consoles now.

Adventures of Elliot FW Comparison
No great comparisons, but compared to the various Squenix HD-2D titles and comparable Mana series, it disappoints.

I’d imagine it did probably closer to Triangle Strategy figures when accounting for the large shift toward digital in recent years. Still not the best results… IMO these sales are a combination of (i) 2D-HD not being as unique as it was during the debut of OT, (ii) poor marketing, and (iii) overall consumer spending being down with the recent economic downturn.
Regarding Sony's decision to go all digital: I don't think the Japanese console market is at all ready today for all digital consoles when it comes to mass market appeal. Not only due to culture, second hand market, but the high medium age of Japan means that a big part of console gamers there are in their 40s-50s, they won't change their gaming habits in that age.
The fact that Switch 1 games broke all time retail sales records in Japan shows how heavily retail slated console gaming still is there. In other markets it would be impossible for retail sales records for console games to happen in modern times, but that is what happened during the Switch 1 era in Japan.
Having no discs will certainly help PS sell a lot in Japan, seems like Sony knows what it is doing to get players back in Japan very well... LOL
