I just finished the game for the first time. I too would have enjoyed the chance to play as Joel a bit more than what we got. He could have gotten his own DLC side story. That flashback part in the hotel with Ellie, they could of had us control Joel instead for old times sake.

Other than that, the story was of course devastating. Not perfect but bold and emotional.

I see season 2 is now available on 4K Blu-Ray. Bit expensive still (CAD 63) worth it?

I'm not a fan of the casting of Abbey, but maybe it's not so bad in the show itself?

I’m familiar with the TV show. Never played the game.
However, I like that nothing quite feels like it despite it being in a well trodden genre. It is (IMO) the best exploration of the Romero themes in a “zombie” story (not zombies, but you know what I mean). It is like a grittier exploration of the original themes of Dawn of the Dead (which Snyder basically ripped out because I think they wanted to avoid all political controversy, while the original film embraced it).

For example: one thing Snyder did was just make the zombies fast, so humanity was overwhelmed… in the original film, human empathy and social cohesion was our downfall, not the zombies, the zombies were just the Illness that spread across a population unwilling to turn over infected loved ones to authorities, unwilling to quarantine, and unwilling to end their own political conflicts. The Last of Us explores the themes in different ways, and in a very satisfying way. Human empathy, connection, attachment, and authority vs freedom.

I would love to play the games, but it is unlikely I’ll have a console that plays it.

Let's just say we had a decent-sized watch party for season 1, most of whom are not gamers. Pretty much everyone enjoyed it.

We got through 3 episodes of season 2 and nobody wanted to continue watching it lol

I found the season 2 of the show to miss a lot more with the liberty it was given than season 1.

I wouldn't recommend spending 60 dollars at it no.

Yeah S1 was pretty good, even if not nearly as good as the game, so I was also pretty interested going into S2.

I'm not even sure if I'll give S3 a chance, even more as they confirmed Neil and people from Naughty Dog will have nothing to do with it.
