Basically, if you had the power to choose what year you were born, anytime in human history, would you choose a time other than the one you were actually born? What year would it be if so, and why would you choose that time in particular?

Around the year 2100~2300.
I want to know how far human technology and civilization will have advanced by then.

Is the future an option ? Maybe year 2400~2500, hopefully humanity will have fully developed by then

For this particular thread I was thinking more present or past, since we have no way of knowing what the future will be like.

Probably the year I was born, meaning no change. Living in the past, on paper seems fun, until you realize how much quality of life aspects are missing.

The social discount rate for certain products that technology enables is just absurd, people worth tens of billions in the past like Nathan Rothschild died because they lacked access to a $10 antibiotic.

As a rule of thumb, the further back you go in time, the more you are in for a very very hard time.

Plus, not sure i am going over the line, but back in the day... no birth control....  no thank you.  Birth control is the greatest human invention of all time.

By my philosophy, having been born at any other time I would not be me and I as I am would not exist.
So I rather exist than some other, if possibly happier and more fortunate, version of me. Like the classic saying goes: always be yourself, unless you can be Batman; then be Batman.

That aside, I'm optimistic that couple centuries to future will be better time to live.

Going back would be terrible in almost all eras. But I suppose post WWII wouldn't be bad, maybe 1956 born to avoid the Vietnam War draft. Baby Boomer America wouldn't be bad. If I could choose a different country, then Japan's technological/ economical boom would be interesting, so a 1960s or 1970s birth wouldn't be bad. But still I couldn't enjoy all the restaurants/arcades and such with smoking not being banned. Even in mid 2010s I experienced smoking in restaurants in Japan, not fun.

Im fine with the year I was born. Doesnt really feel like I missed something.
