Class systems are cool

Kind of inspired by the thread about your most played character from a while back, I got to thinking what are people's most played classes across any sort of game that have class systems. You can combine your time across games if for example you've played Cleric in multiple different DnD games or just the same class in the whole Mass Effect Trilogy. I would say it also counts in games where a character is essentially equivelant to a class like Team Fortress 2, Borderlands, etc. and the rest I leave up to intepretation.

Mine would be:

  1. Warrior (WoW) - 1000+ hours (anybody's guess really)
  2. Demon Hunter (Diablo 3) - 200+ hours
  3. Any other WoW class besides Rogue and Warlock - 50-200+ hours
  4. Ranger (Baldur's Gate 3) - 138 hours
  5. Confessor (Elden Ring) - 118 hours (even though starting class is unimportant in Souls games)
  6. Whatever mage-like class I played in Oblivion - 90 hours (^see Elden Ring)

Class systems are under leveraged in gaming, needs to be more common.

I suppose for me the answer is for me is Wanderer via Dark Souls. Probably around 200 hours over multiple characters and game runs.

Dragoon in FFXIV - I found out I was rather good at melee dps back during 2015, after playing caster/healer for 18 months or so prior to that.

I tend to go fighter almost always. I guess it's kind of boring for some people, but I like it because there's a surprising amount of different styles and equipment to pick from. And I don't like to be squishy. Or to run out of spells. You never run out of blade.

Oh, and I like the idea of different classes with their own strengths and weaknesses. If you can spec every character to do everyhing, what's the point?

I always go with thief/assassin kinda class, mixed with archer in some cases, in any game that has that option. Im predisposed to think its the easiest class to get rich, and its usually the case. Plus, you know, high agi and evasion always makes for fun gameplay imo.

As I've mostly played PC retro games, there's not much really with classes.
But in Battlefield/Battlefront etc. I tend to prefer playing sniper.
In Phantasy Star Online(/Portable) I preferred "ranger", meaning there shooting oriented, as opposed to close fighter or mage.
So in general I go with something with ranged combat, preferably an all-round class with some lesser healing/magic available.
