mad about a 14 year old device not being supported? not being cheeky, just curious. I wouldn't expect a 14 year old device to be actively supported.

In reference to the Kindle? I’m using it as a demonstration that when you purchase digitally through a platform (even as large as the one owned by Amazon), you’re library can be stripped from you and restricted to a single, fallible device. Granted, I don’t believe you won’t be able to access your Kindle library on other devices, meaning you haven’t fully lost accessibility to your library, but the point still stands.
(My Perry-the-Platypus themed Kindle from Christmas 2012 will have to retire, it seems. :( I actually used to play Minecraft and read some Geronimo Stilton books through that device. Good times!)

Yeah, I think that is my point. In this reference he has full access to his digital library, nothing is stripped. He can buy a new device and transfer his library. the complaint seems to be "OMG my 14-year-old device isn't being supported moving forward." I don't think a 14-year-old device being retired is a problem. I mean Nintendo isn't supporting the Wii-U anymore either.
edit
and Kindle has apps on phones, tablets and computers... he can read all his digital content whenever he wants too.

Eh… but it’s not like Nintendo doesn’t allow you to redownload previously purchased digital games unless you purchase a Switch.

Honestly I have no idea. I mean could I redownload stuff on a 3DS? fair and kudos to Nintendo, I don't know how that works. When I return old consoles, I just emulate what I lost.
Edit
According to Copilot, Wii games previously purchased cannot be re-downloaded, but you can with the Wii-U. To me the big difference is I can't use another device for my Wii games, while with Kindle it will work on multiple devices. Tablets, computers, phones, etc.

If I remember correctly, digital 3DS games are bound to the hardware, not to the eShop account.
So if my 3DS dies, I can't just buy a used 3DS, log into my account and redownload my games.

Nah. My 3DS had a tragic encounter with a toilet bowl and died a couple years back. I got a new one and was able to call Nintendo to transfer the account. Once I did, I was able to download the games I had on it. Unfortunately my save data was gone. But, for the save files for all my digital games were gone :(.
Can't confirm that will still work today though, but I imagine it would.

I’m gonna be honest, all, I kinda just don’t care about “ownership” at this point… which is an awfully large turn-around from my post this morning lol. IDK I mean I’m gonna be able to emulate the game regardless once the ISO/ROM files inevitably release online alongside a solid emulator.
That said: I’ve decided against going with GOG for the moment— don’t love the lack of QoL features of GOG compared to Steam.

On an epub-reader I can keep uploading epubs, until the device fails. People seem to misunderstand age in technology. Old devices may be unable to suppport *new* features, but are fine in supporting technology they did support all the time.

I never owned an Ereader. Why would support stop if all it does is display pages from a book? It's not a Smartphone. What do the new ones do read the book better or something?
