Yeah, I think that is my point.  In this reference he has full access to his digital library, nothing is stripped.  He can buy a new device and transfer his library.  the complaint seems to be "OMG my 14-year-old device isn't being supported moving forward."  I don't think a 14-year-old device being retired is a problem.  I mean Nintendo isn't supporting the Wii-U anymore either.

and Kindle has apps on phones, tablets and computers...  he can read all his digital content whenever he wants too.

Eh… but it’s not like Nintendo doesn’t allow you to redownload previously purchased digital games unless you purchase a Switch.

Honestly I have no idea.  I mean could I redownload stuff on a 3DS?  fair and kudos to Nintendo, I don't know how that works.  When I return old consoles, I just emulate what I lost.

Edit

According to Copilot, Wii games previously purchased cannot be re-downloaded, but you can with the Wii-U.  To me the big difference is I can't use another device for my Wii games, while with Kindle it will work on multiple devices.  Tablets, computers, phones, etc.
