Forums - Nintendo - GTA6 potential day 1 launch on NS2

People seem to forget about consoles that came before and what they achieved. Even if they have to scale back for gta6 on switch 2, imagine having a portable device that can play something greatly superior to that of rdr2? When people think of switch 2 and small device, they think weak and underpowered. We haven't even seen proper footage of gta6. It's most likely going to be a long over due delayed ps4 pro title, and thats still an amazing thing.

Look, I don't even know what framerate I'm running in games, your holy numbers don't mean anything to me. And I don't play FPS games, so it matters even less. Sure, there have been games sometimes that actually felt a little stiff to operate, I guess that meant the framerate was bad. I haven't really experienced that kind of slowness since the PS3, so it's not an issue for me and I bet it's not an issue for most console gamers.

It seems to be true that people perceive this kind of thing differently, some are more sensitive to framerate than others. We might be in the opposite ends of the spectrum. Or I would have to have both versions running in front of me at the same time to see the difference. Every platform is so good nowadays. You watch Digital Foundry comparison videos and it mostly feels like geeks nitpicking over random pixels.

Can we just say that PC gamers are happy, console gamers are happy, everybody is happy and leave it at that? Maybe I missed what the original spat was about here, sorry if that's the case.

I use to make the same claims and have the same opinions about frame rates... until my kid wanted me to download Fall Guys for my Switch 1 so we could play together. I was new to the game, which didn't help, but you would have thought I was a new gamer period. I sucked so bad at it. Like, eye-brow-raisingly bad. I had no idea why until I decided to download it and play it on my PS5. The difference was night and day, and I'm not talking about visuals. The doubling of the frame rate literally doubled my skills, if not tripled them. Just from the frame rates being added.

So I am now a believer. I will still play retro games with low frame rates, but modern ones? I look for the versions with the highest rates. Anything else is just handicapping me.

Absolutely true.  I played RE4 Remake on the PC at 120 fps, finished with 86% accuracy.  Turned around and played the ps5 version at 60 fps and finished at 72% accuracy.

I played Halo Infinite with the wife, she was on my old laptop at 30 fps while I was 120 fps.  She, within 20 minutes, flatly asked me wtf.  She said I was getting headshots before she could land a hit.

I still hate how fps is viewed as graphical when it is gameplay.  Competitive games are high fps for a reason.

And to be clear, people can buy and enjoy whatever they want.  I just dont want to hear there isnt a difference.

I play locally with friends on Mario Kart. With more than 2 players in split screen, it drops to 30fps and I still have a good time... fuck me, right?

Look man, you are conflating arguments.  Nobody said a 30 fps game can't be fun.  What is being said is higher fps offer tighter controls.  Both things can be true.  30 fps can be fun and higher fps improves controls.  It isn't that hard to follow.

Edit

And where I agree with Handy, given option A versus option B, if option B has better/tighter controls...  it makes no logic sense to go with option A, unless someone travels a lot or simply is that tied to brand.

The irony of course being, Nintendo fans are pushing against fps being important, while Nintendo themselves largely target 60 fps when possible.  There is a reason Nintendo pushes 60 fps when possible and is updating games and offering a S2 boost mode for S1 games.  It isn't because fps don't matter.

"Looks like shit" "30fps can go f#ck itself" "its not worth it" doesn't look like fun to me. All this thread have you all trying to throw under the mud the visual performance that doesn't fill all the checks on your criteria. So... yes, it really doesnt matter for me. If Nintendo update their games performance... Good! I will enjoy the updates, but I was just fine how it was before. For you that care for input precision and stuff, Excellent! Not all gamers follow by the same rules and that is what you don't seen to understand.

I have a PC, but it has been years that I don't use it for gaming, bc it is more confortable to play in every corner of my house, like laying down on my couch or on my bed. That kind of freedom and confort I wont give away for something that I dont care! It is really that simple

I can rephrase, if that helps.  I loathe 30 fps, but that is a personal opinion.  Others do not need to share my opinion.

After 3 years of 60 to 120 fps, I just cant play 30 fps.

But others are free to enjoy what they want.  I prefer my Subaru over a Corvette, but I wouldn't dream of claiming they are the same car.

This entire debacle started when people claimed there wasn't a difference, that is false.  There is a massive difference, how much people care is an entirely different topic.

Good, now you can go back to thread and take a post where somebody said 30fps and 60fps are the same, bc I cant see it

I think the word "insignificant" have not the meaning as "equivalent"

The difference between 30, 60 and 120 fps isn't insignificant.  if you want to concede that point, I am happy to drop the topic.

Insignificant is just flatly the wrong verbiage.  It is significant, you just dont care.

The difference in horsepower between my subaru and a Vette isn't insignificant, it is significant.  I just dont care because I need ground clearance and AWD.

It ain't hard my friend.  Your verbiage was wrong, full stop.

I always thought insignificant goes along with something that you don't care,  something too small to be considered noteworthy. But, fair enough... I will pay attention from now on

To be fair to you, verbiage can be interpreted many ways.  Which makes discussions online hard.  Either way, no worries, I never meant harm or to be a pecker.

Mobile is a huge selling point.  My daughter prefers S2 over ps5 since I take the TV often.

And if we are fair, Mobile has come a long way.  Crazy to me a ps4 pro like hardware fits in a pocket.  Hell my gpu, by itself, is bigger than the S2.

Meaning i get people not caring about top graphics.  I am the outlier, not the norm.  Most dont care.
