Baldurs Gate 3 is..

Under rated 1 6.25%

Just rightly praised 8 50.00%

Over rated 3 18.75%

I have not played. 4 25.00%

Total:16

I'm 24 hours into my current campaign, more than double my first attempt. This game is good but it's not as good as Divinity OS2.

What am I missing? Level ups are not satisfying, the skills mostly feel cheap and everything is so limited. The turn based combat is nowhere near as punchy, it clearly has a lot of choice but somehow still manages to feel more linear than Divinity OS2. Itemization is very week, like I don't care about new gear at all. It's a good game and it's all so serious in tone so far. It's a great table top simulator but it's not near as good a game as Larians previous work, there are loads of things that don't feel as tight or as fun, even the story and character interactions (While, really well produced) feels weaker, the characters feel less unique and interesting... or is this just me?

Nhaaa, game is pretty deserving of the hype.

Ride The Chariot | ‘26 Completion

What? what kinda thread title is this.... No.

I haven't played it but I am curious to see what people say in this thread. I have been on the fence about it. The battle system seems very complicated, not sure if that is an accurate take.

The system is complex, but tactical combat is easy, if that makes sense

In short it's not intuitive for people who only played videogames and never played table top rpgs. Unlike Divinity, where combat is 100% made with videogames in mind, here you need to understand things like checks, saving throws, skill bonuses, AC, etc

However once you have deep understanding of the mechanics, the game is tactically very easy due to how powerful are the abilities the players get. The mechanics are designed with table top in mind, where there are limitations and you play with a party and cannot optimize your characters, while BG3 you can optimize everything and steamroll the game even on Tactician

The internet does have a tendency to overhype things— not every game is meant for everyone, after all.

That said… I don’t think viewing a game as “overrated” will help much in your personal enjoyment of it. Give the game some time. I’m sure you’ll click with it eventually.

I never played table top, but I get the impression I can grab the game, watch a few videos and get an understanding and be fine.  Cool, thanks my friend.  Once I get done with RE9 this will likely be my next title.

I tried to get into it twice, by myself and in split-screen co-op. Split-screen was so bad I abandoned my single player play-through as well, which I was getting bored of anyway.

Overrated. It did not bring back vibes of BG1 and 2.
