The most iconic consoles is PS1 & PS2.
Switch could go first to the category of the handhelds and it has as a huge advantage " the whole library of Wii U" which was actual quite good.

"Rank higher" in what way tho?
Id personally put PS2 above Switch simply due to library. Switch's library is great, but PS2 had one of the very best game libraries of all time. It had everything.
But still, the SNES is my fav console ever.
So far, most of the gaming community and possibly a lot of the general public still prefer PS2 a little.
-Backwards compatibility with PS1
-DVD and CD playback
-Tons of third-party titles that never came to other consoles (especially not until after the 6th Gen)
-First-party games like Gran Turismo, God of War, Jak, Sly, etc.
-No microtransactions, installing or downloading of games
-Some shovelware (the most by far of the 6th Gen) but because there was no digital distribution there is way less shovelware than Switch.
Switch might end up being considered better by most. And if you care largely about Nintendo titles or the handheld nature it's an easy pick over PS2.

Yeah I was gonna say, Switch 1's not done yet, still quite a few games still in the pipeline.

I think both are in the same S tier lineup. Both uniquely amazing at what they excel at.

I like this answer: not pitting the two systems against each other, but rather, enjoying the two cakes that are in front of him.
Personally I’d rate the PS2 the lowest out of every system I’ve ever owned (that includes the Xbox One and Wii U). I’d rate the Switch pretty high.

The Switch isn't known for being the console for football games and GTA. For the general public in South America, it's a secondary console, and it seems to be the same in some parts of Europe as well. The PS2 was a worldwide phenomenon (piracy helped a lot here). Anyway, I think the PS2 library would satisfy more people than the Switch. When I was a teenager, I remember shopping malls having arcades with dozens of PS2s and many people playing Winning Eleven, Guitar Hero, and GTA. It was very common here in Colombia, and in places I visited like Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina.
For personal preference? The Switch is one of my favourite consoles of all time. The PS2 isn't.
But I didn't play much in between Dreamcast and Wii mainly because of shifting life priorities in my young bachelor years. It just happened PS2's heyday was at that time.
EDIT: on a side note, I'll add that the Wii also fell into my "bachelor period" timeslot, but it was far more compatible, so it ended up being a much bigger part of my life than other consoles at the time.
