Forums - Gaming - Games with amazing cutscenes

What games do you think have lots of fun cutscenes to watch?

In my opinion, I would say any Final Fantasy game, since after FF7 on PS1, they started with the FMV cutscenes which were a joy to watch. Then things only got better on recent titles. I think Kojima games also have some cinematics that are very impressive, almost like watching a movie.

Recently I'm playing The Last of Us Part I, and I'm also enjoying the cutscenes a lot. Although there are just a few of them, and they're kinda short, since most of the dialogues happen during gameplay.

What you say?

Playing FF7 Remake now, and yeah the cutscenes are really well done.

I also have a real soft spot for the realtime cutscenes in OG RE4 as they're the best kind of B-movie camp that's gloriously entertaining.

All three FF games for PS1 and FFX for PS2.

I know I can post amazing modern stuff or PS2 era CGI stuff. Going to post a couple that don't seem like much now but were amazing at the time.

Ninja Gaiden NES was mind blowing at the time. Cutscenes were not much of a thing until this. This set the stage.

At the time with the CD quality music. Good voice acting. It felt like having an anime quality in your game. It was amazing.

Blizzard has always been renowned for their cutscenes.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Anything Westwood, Square or Blizzard is peak cutscenes.

A few good ones come to mind like Alpha Centauri (Firaxis), Master of Orion 2 (Microprose), Freespace 2 (Volition) and Battlezone 2 (Activision)

Out of games not mentioned yet and off the top of my head:

Final Fantasy 6, Rondo of Blood, Metal Gear Solid 1, Parasite Eve 1 and 2, Silent Hill 1, Ninja Gaiden (Xbox), Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

Intros/endings:
Soul Blade/Edge (greatest CGI opening of all time).
Chrono Trigger
Soul Reaver
Most Gran Turismo games
Tekken 2 and 3
Onimusha 3

I don't think anything can beat these games
-Persona Anime Cutscenes
-The Final Fantasy VII Remakes
-Star Wars Jedi duology
-The Last of Us Part I
I feel like I'm watching movies or fantastic TV shows during these. The storytelling is very strong.
