Forums - Sales - FF7 Remake apparently off to a strong start on Switch 2

https://www.gonintendo.com/contents/56998-final-fantasy-vii-remake-intergrade-on-switch-2-is-sold-out-at-multiple-retailers

Following it's release 3 days ago, apparently FF7 Remake on Switch 2 is selling well out of the gate; it has sold out online at Gamestop, Target, and Best Buy, as well as reading #1 on both Amazon and the Eshop.

Fantastic news. Anything that demonstrates exclusives are not a good business strategy means gamers win.

I hope exclusives continue to die. I'm still waiting for Alan Wake 2, Yotei, Demon remake and astrobot to hit Steam.

Alan Wake 2 is still not on Steam? Man that sucks.

Nope.  The remaster of the original isn't either.  Epic paid for exclusivity and the game is selling under expectations.  Could kill the franchise.

I bought it. Looking forward to playing it next.

Great news! Though not too surprising for a few reasons.

1) Nintendo platforms have a very strong RPG presence and healthy audience for that genre with a few of their own staples (Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade Chronicles). Dragon Quest also sells extremely well on Nintendo along with Shin Megami Tensei and now Persona. So it's not surprising to see Final Fantasy sell well. Especially when fans have been eager and waiting for mainline Final Fantasy to make a return to Nintendo platforms for a long time.

2) When you put in the genuine effort to make the port of a game as great as it can be instead of half-assing it, the consumers will reward you for it.

Me too; only up to chapter 3 so far but having a good time so far, it's really well made and an excellent port.

In my French store, sales were decent. However, there aren't a huge number of Switch 2 games available, especially this month. There aren't many big releases. I think Switch 2 players are hungry for new games. Sales will likely slow down quickly, since most Final Fantasy VII fans already played it five years ago on PS4

good, now can we get some info on part 3

Good I hope it does well.

In spite of some frustrations SE is still easily one of my favourite publishers and FF amongst my favourite franchises. I want to see it thrive and be able to maintain high production values for some core entries, whilst also exploring retro/throw back aesthetics like we're seeing with Dragon Quest.
