I picked 2028, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is 2027 either. I feel like it could go either way. At the very least, maybe the next Xbox gets a head start on the PS6.

Microsoft is the 4th biggest corporation on the planet, and even with tech prices and shortages they could absolutely get Xbox 5 out by November 2027.
I think Sony is going to wait until November 2028. Xbox 360 and Switch went 8 years before being replaced, I think Sony can do the same at least once. PS5 Pro has also bought Sony a little extra time, as well as subscription and software revenue and profits.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 122 million (was 105 million, then 115 million) Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

The price war is going to be a bigger issue gen 10 than anything else.

NS2 - $450 (for now)
SteamCube $599
PS6 - (rumors are high priced)
XBX5 - (rumors are high priced)

Nintendo might actually be the cheapest Gen10 system

They are not going to spend resources never seen before to subsidize a console double the relevant cost of anything before to release to the masses for the price people can afford. With these RAM/SSD/GPU prices, that are still climbing btw, there is no way they will release

NS2 - $450 (for now)
SteamCube $599     *800$ (500gb ssd), 950$ for (2tb ssd) (rumor)
PS6 - (rumors are high priced)  *700-800$ (rumored)
XBX5 - (rumors are higher priced) *1200-1500$ (rumored)

Nintendo might actually be the cheapest Gen10 system *(will be 100% without a doubt, even with them soon raising it 50$)

Steam Machine (cube or whatever you call it), is rumored to be ~800$ for the 512gb ssd model.
Its performance is slightly below a PS5 base model.  This comes from a backend price, of a Czech Retailer online.
They removed the included VAT (tax) and guessed at their profit margins, and worked back the price, converted it to USD and said that looks about it.
(its leaked prices were ~950$ and ~1070$ depending on the SSD size, includeing VAT ect ect)

MLIS thinks the new chip for the Xbox console/pc hybrid will be really expensive due to the size of the thing.
Even the PS6 from rumors looks to be more expensive than the PS5 (chip wise).

don't be surprised at a 700-800$ PS6 (sold at like ~100$ loss), and a 1200-1500$ new Xbox (needs high margin profits, because of steam store).

And yes, those prices will slow down adoption rates.
Waiting until the Ram/SSD situation cools down abit, is in everyone's interest.

PS6 will be 2029 at the earliest, they are future proofing the PS5 Pro to last a bit longer now.
By the time the chip situation is resolved, Xbox will have abandoned their next console altogether.
For Nintendo, I think they are worried about getting chips for the NS2 beyond their current contracts. The next console is not a huge issue for them at the moment since they just launched.

And wont be for a long time, since NS2 will be alongside the other systems that are yet to come for many years in the future.

That is talk for the next gen :D

We reap what we sow

I'm expecting the PS6 to come by 2028. Seems to be the most realistic bet.

The question is if the next Xbox will release before that. We know from Microsoft that they're already working on their next-gen console, so it could come by 2027.

I heard Xbox tends to release info about new hardware at their Summer Showcase, so maybe we should wait to see if some info will pop up around June.
