It is what it is.

This thread was made so the OP can say which Playstation it outsold and how many "championships" it has over it, his words, which is all of them except the PS2, it's meaningless if it's either the PS4 or PS5.

Doesn't change the fact it is a handheld, and in that it has even more "championships", because it has all of them.

Its a console too.

Is the PSP a home console?

You don't want a discussion or any opinion or view different from your own. All you have done in this entire thread is go NUH UH! YOU'RE WRONG I'M RIGHT!. Guess what. You're wrong. Esp wrong using AI slop. Why fucking care what AI slop says?  Oh right because it's the new age  BUT MY MOM SAYS I'M RIGHT.

Switch is blue ocean. It is first gen Hybrid. Generations have little meaning anymore. Unlike your avatar things are not black and white.

If it's by power, Wii is pretty much a 6th Generation Console and Wii U a 7th with Switch kind of like a strong 7th or maybe 8th due to more modern architecture. So just by power doesn't make sense.
I don't like the idea of console generations. Handhelds, home consoles, and now a hybrid all get lumped together. Cross-gen titles are also increasing blurring the line and as some on this form have said Intellivision and ColecoVision were a lost generation. They're not really third generation like Famicom/NES, but they're only lumped in with Atari 2600/VCS because of the North American crash it seems.
I say Switch is 9th Generation and Switch 2 is 10th Generation.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 122 million (was 105 million, then 115 million) Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

"Let go your earthly tether, enter the void, empty and become wind." - Guru Laghima

8th Gen
Wii U / PS4 / XB1 / 3DS / PSV

9th Gen
PS5 / XBS

Nintendo is now between two generations compared to the other two (Sony and Microsoft).

I would say historical precedent can go both ways; there's precedent for instance for a "midway" console being seen as kicking off the next gen (Dreamcast) and being part of the current gen. (Colecovision)

Well yes there is context that you have to use when things dont line up as neatly as youd like them to. For dreamcast, it released in 1999 but is part of 6th gen because its harware is more comparable there. Colecovision was 1982 near the end of the 2nd generation but its hardware is more comparable to 2nd gen consoles.

Dreamcast first released in 1998, closer to the N64 than the Gamecube/Xbox. Colecovision was also way more capable than earlier 2nd gen systems like the 2600, and power doesn't define generations anyway since the Wii is 6th gen in power but widely considered a 7th gen console, ditto for Wii U being 8th gen chronologically but 7th gen in power.

Ok so consesus is ps4 won 8th gen and switch won 9th gen is that where we are landing on this debate? So total is nintendo has 4 championships and sony has 3 championships and microsoft has 0.
