Thanks for the heads-up. $15 for couch co-op fun is a steal.

How does this compare to Outward (haven't started it yet). I see lots of mixed impressions of Outward. We're looking for something that's fun and not that difficult to play. Not looking for a challenge, looking for couch co-op fun.

Honor - Very hard with only one save and game over if everybody dies

Tactician - Very hard

Classic - Average to Hard

Explorer - Average to easy

Story - Very easy

BG3 can't run on PS4, it won't be running on Switch 2 either

I think it even had issues to run on Series S

The problem it had with Series S was related to RAM size, which the Switch 2 has more of.

I thought it was CPU heavy too? The Series S version is capped at 30fps.

I'm sure a S2 port is possible but of course without splitscreen and some further customisation to town density etc. It'll be maybe more of the more challenging games versus games where it's just graphical detail that needs addressing.

Difficulty levels, bless :)

We'll probably play on Story mode, easiest mode in BG3 was too much... (Although that was mostly the annoying controls and camera, mistake to play that on console) We got through PoE2's campaign twice, but did have to look up beneficial upgrades as we did get stuck there as well.

Looking foward for more from Laurian projects in the future. Tabletop mode+Mouse functionality is a nice touch for games with that style. Make it happen Laurian! I know you can do it, dont listen to these forum tech experts

We reap what we sow

At first I was really interested and impressed by the new Divinity trailer at The Game Awards...

...But after seeing Divinity series gameplay, I had to give up. This definitely isn't my kind of game.

Yeah that's the thing, CPU demands aren't hard limits, they can be worked around in various ways.

On paper, games like Witcher 3 or Hogwarts Legacy or Kingdom Come Deliverance should be well beyond the capabilities of Switch 1's CPU, yet they were made to work through various adjustments and optimizations.

Outward is not really comparable to this type of games - DOS2 is Larian's take on iso CRPGs - for all the good and bad that Larian brings to the table.

Outward is exploration action-RPG with survival mechanics, not shying away from its modest budget and goal to cater to fairly niche audience. I love it for what it was designed to convey, despite some of its flaws and jank, and I think mixed impressions you see are mostly coming from people getting it and expecting some other type of game than it is.

As for fun - that's very subjective. I had a blast playing Outward with my son, but we both love those "we're lost and it's getting dark - we're fucked" type of situations.
