Man, there's plenty of 3rd party games here I want to buy and play on the system... If not for those stupid ass Game Key cards.

Thank you for the games. :) I won't be adding some of them, however, out of a desire not to bloat this list with titles that are too niche. (Also, only including games with a current slated release date in 2026. So, Rebirth and System Shock don't make the cut, unfortunately.)

Agreed 100%. If it weren't for the GKCs, I'd have to really consider between portability and performance. As it stands, I'm getting pretty much every third party game on the PS5 instead since you're getting the full game in those versions (for the most part anyway)
Putting that aside, the game I'm the most excited for is the new Fire Emblem. I used to love Path of Radiance back in the day but I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the GC so this game will be my return to the series. Although maybe I'll get three houses in the mean time since I've heard good things about that one.
EDIT: Oh and Orbitals, that co-op game with 80's anime style they announced on the game awards looks pretty interesting. Gotta keep my eye on that one! (I hope it's not a GKC though!)
It's not even a portability vs performance issue for me; Switch 2 is more than substantial in terms of performance and power, I think. I'd be MORE than happy to sacrifice a few pixels on games like FFVII Remake or Resident Evil Requiem on Switch 2 over PS5 or PC - Not just for the portability, but for the fact that I get mainline Final Fantasy and Resident Evil on the same system as Mario and Zelda.
For me, the issue is physical vs. digital - And the storage/file space that comes with it. I have this rule with my Switch 1 (And now Switch 2) where if a game is over/under a certain GB size, I'll get it either physical or digital. At this moment, I'm still not entirely sure what that number would be for Switch 2 - But with Switch 1, it was always 10gb. Anything that's 10gb or less - Digital. Anything that was over 10gb - Physical. Since the full game is on the Switch 1 cart, I can save all that storage and still have for all the other smaller games if I buy the bigger games physical.
And I was thinking of maybe expanding that to 20-30gb for Switch 2 (Maybe 25gb is the sweet spot, I'm not sure) as games naturally get bigger as the system gets more powerful and capable... Overall, it was a rule that served me extremely well throughout the Switch 1's life cycle and was looking forward to using it again on Switch 2.
But those stupid Game Key cards completely kill that rule. Now it doesn't make a difference whether I get it digital of "physical," I still have to download the full game. And now, I have to be careful WHICH games I buy, because even with a 526gb microexpress SD card for extra storage, with all these games going for 40-50-60-80-100gb - That storage is going to fill up VERY fast!
Now for games like FFVII Remake, I can understand because that game is 90gb and, to my knowledge, the biggest size currently available for Switch 2 cartridges as 64gb. So, they'd have to cut a lot of corners just to make it work.
But for games like Sonic Racing Crossworlds, Persona 3 Reload, or the Dragon Queste 1&2 remakes - Games that are well within 64gb, that's just straight up BS. And it's just SEGA, Atlus, and Square being lazy, I feel.

If you're someone who's primary console is Nintendo, the 3rd party offerings make such a huge difference. That list in isolation (ignoring exclusivity etc) looks way more interesting than any year of the Switch.

Which one is your favorite? Deciding between these three— hoping to have something even better looking in the future, but this is all I've got for now.

For early April, this is a solid list I think Switch 2026 will be better than Switch 1 2018 (that one was pretty weak) |
Switch 2018 was carried big time by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. There was obviously other stuff like Let's Go, Kirby Star Allies, and Super Mario Party.
I think Switch 2026 will be similar to Switch 2025 in terms of first-party and then I think 2027 will be a huge banger comparable to Switch's 2017.

Yeah third party support is looking like a significant improvement over last gen.
Switch 1 did get quite a few ports, but a lot of stuff never made it over like current gen Resident Evil and Assassin's Creed, a lot of the big demanding AAA titles, etc.
