I wonder how this will affect their game output and what games will be pushed.
Pretty sure Battlefield is gonna be top of their list but this does not bode well for the smaller titles and the titles that are frozen like the Codemaster games....

As for Kushner, probably looking to strengthen right-wing media reach and secure another asset for the culture war. Only bright side is that the Saudis have at least been fairly hands-off so far in terms of not radically changing the game IP they're invested in. |
The investment in the games industry is also a part of the Saudi royal family's sportswashing efforts. See also: their hands in FIFA, professional golf, and the WWE. The next WrestleMania is going to be held in Riyadh. It's all a part of Saudi Vision 2030.
Kushner will absolutely use his share to try to exert the Trump family's will on EA. At least he's likely to be a minority partner, while Silver Lake and the PIF will be the majority owners. He has nowhere near the financial resources of SL or the Saudis.
Don't really care that much, though I suspect this will probably push things like NHL and Battlefield to be on Switch 2 and no more of the slow motion process to get it done. The status quo management teams at some of these publishers that really operate as if its still 2005 are slowly but surely getting the boot.

The deal is done; EA has agreed to be acquired for $55 Billion
Well I was looking forward to the new Mass Effect but I don't know if Bioware makes it out of this one.
You have got to be kidding me. I didn't think EA could get worse, but hooking up with Saudi Arabia and Jared Kushner? Gross. I guess I am back to avoiding EA games. Shouldn't be too hard. I bought Boom Blox and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 on the Wii in roughly 2009. Since then, it looks like the only other EA games I picked up have been Titanfall 2, Mass Effect, and the entire Command & Conquer franchise on super deep discounts on Steam. Spending a total of about $20 for all of it in 2023 and 2024. So about 14 years without buying an EA game? I bet I can do it again.
And that is sad really. It looks like 7 out of 37 games I had for Gamecube were EA published. They used to be so good. Sad to see them go down this road. The only publisher I bought more from back then was Nintendo at 12 games.
