I just started. I got nerd yellow paint man. His facial animations are very well done. The game looks fantastic.Loving the art direction and music. I know it's not but some of the art design reminds me of Warframe.

I don't like 15 much at all but man 16 is worse. 16 has a better first impression but the more it goes along the more the horrible writing. Shit writing of women and shitty mashy combat reveals itself. The writing is so insanely bad! The bosses made by Platinum Games are the only real highlight. Not to mention tone deaf takes on slavery. I would not even call 16 an RPG. It's a bad action game. There is zero elemental in this game. All RPGs have elemental mechanics. Water takes out fire. Not in 16. Fire takes out fire. Stranger in Paradise is a ARPG and a better game with a lower budget and less spectacle. FF7Rebirth is a good ARPG. FF16 is a fucking mess.

To me FF16 was a good action game but a terrible Final Fantasy game. Also I was supremely annoyed with how the situation with Clive's mother resolved. She got off far too easy and it really stuck in my craw.

And too long for an action game, imo. 30 hours is way too long for such a simple battle system. For me 16 was a great example of a 10 hour game being forced to be 30 hours.

Playing through Rematser and this may be the point at which I quit lol. How is Prime 4 for the backtracking?
Seeing this video has 10k views I'm glad I'm not alone in being utterly confused by the backtracking sometimes. I never had this problem with Metroid Prime 3 (the first one I played) I just don't find it organic or intuitive, its like remember this random room you entered 2 hours ago. Go back there, run through all the respawning enemies and be careful not to waste your time returning to a different area which also had a secret path but one which you still don't have the right tools for...
And I'm a lover of Zelda and open ended exploration but in Metroid it's just frustrating me, I think because the world isn't especially inviting beyond scanning. It's not like I'm interacting with people and looting enemies, or finding unique collectables in the meantime, it's just feels like time wasted whenever I take a wrong turn and having to run through the dozens of little segmented rooms is a bit of a ball ache

Haven't played Prime 4 yet but the main criticism I've seen is of how linear it is, and how most areas seem to be a completely straight shot. So you're probably looking at something similar to Prime 3, maybe even more straightforward than that.

I like Prime 3 a lot but Prime 1 is the best one in the series. There is only one sequence in all of Prime 1 backtracking felt way out it's way. Prime 2 solves that issue tho. My issues with Prime 2 is the dark world stuff. Nintendo loves to recycle this mechanic of a dark world in it's IPs. Plus prime 2 had ammo for the blaster. Like no, missles sure but other than that please no.

Seems like sales are likely to be quite good for Prime 4. Now the question is what that will mean for Nintendo and Retro? Obviously, it means they'll be interested in going ahead with a Prime 5. But will it mean that they'll listen to the feedback of fans on what they disliked about Prime 4? Or will they look at the sales being stronger than ever and double down on the decisions which frustrated players for Prime 4?

If I were to guess, the more linear, "haloization", that MP3 and MP4 brought us, is here to stay, with minor variation.
Having said that, MP5 should have a better dev cycle than MP4 and that probably means that a lot of the rough implementations like the desert and inconsistent story of MP4 won't happen.
Metroid 6 will be what satisfies the Metroidvania fans.
