If I were to guess, the more linear, "haloization", that MP3 and MP4 brought us, is here to stay, with minor variation.
Having said that, MP5 should have a better dev cycle than MP4 and that probably means that a lot of the rough implementations like the desert and inconsistent story of MP4 won't happen.
Metroid 6 will be what satisfies the Metroidvania fans.
