This trailer really sold me on it. I was more than likely picking it up already, but the game is looking really good.

I love the look of the world, it definitely has that "Metroid Prime" feeling of imaginative alien wilderness that made prior games so great. Visually stunning too considering its a Switch 1 game at heart, Retro's artists and technicians once again flexing.
I'm not too worried about the troopers; if they were present for the whole game then yeah that'd be a problem, but I get the feeling we're still gonna spend most of our time lone wolf. Prime 3 already did this where there were sections where you interacted with the Federation troopers but it was only a minority of the total experience, and I still found Prime 3 to be an amazing game.

yeap my thoughts exactly, looks much more promising with this trailer
good to know there are more characters involved, and not just Samus fighting monsters :P
don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

yeah the more I look into it, some outlets are merely making something much bigger than it is. Sounds like many outlets are citing that these NPC characters are only present for a small section in the game’s opening lol. But(!) I will remain cautiously optimistic. Everything I’ve heard sounds veeeery reassuring so far. |
Yeah I wouldn't stress too much, the overview trailer clearly says that you will "occasionally" fight alongside Federation troopers, the press demo just seemed to revolve around one such section, but even that was only like 10 minutes long, in what will likely be a 15+ hour game.
Samus has a new voice actor; Erin Yvette, who takes over from Jennifer Hale.
Her prior credits include Blond Blazer in Dispatch, Selvie in Unicorn Overlord, Neilnail in Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Arlecchino in Genshin Impact.
After 18 years, it's finally in my hands.
Played through the first hour or so just now, through both the opening battle and the introduction to planet Viewros, up to just after arriving on the jungle map, Fury Green.
Despite the nearly two decades since Prime 3, it follows on from that game quite seamlessly in terms of style and feel. Samus feels great to control, the music and audio design is pure Prime, and the general tone is quite similar to Corruption.
It's perhaps the most "premium" feeling Nintendo game in a very long time in terms of production value; I can easily believe reports that this is the most expensive game they've developed to date. Visually it is stunning, by Switch 1 standards at least, quite possibly the best looking game that system has ever hosted, and the framerate is silky smooth.
Haven't met any of the Troopers yet, so will update on that once I do.
Congrats to everyone who finally get to play this game!
Announced for the Switch when it was just 3 months old. Even people who had the Switch as their first console have waited over 8 years.
Hope it brings a good adventure for every fan.
Personally I will listen up on the music to see if it can match the atmospheric excellence of the original.

It definitely looks it but I'd be shocked if it was more expensive than Breath of the Wild... but I guess the number probably takes into account the fact the game restarted development in which case it makes sense.

Yeah if we count the restart it was in dev for over 8 years, which is a long time for costs to stack up.
It's also just got a lot of extra stuff most Nintendo games don't have to worry about like more detailed assets, voice acting, motion capture, a lot of cinematics, etc.
To get it looking as good as it does while running at 60fps on a system as power-limited as Switch 1 also must have taken a huge amount of engineering and optimization.

I can echo what some others have said that if you miss what Zelda was like pre-BOTW, this might be something you'd like; it feels quite similar to classic Zelda in the areas are like a themed dungeon where you obtain a new power, use it to solve a series of obstacle, then use it to beat a boss. Also met Myles; while he is a bit jarring, thankfully he's only around for like 10-15 minutes out of the first couple of hours so far, most of my time was still spent solo.

So, you are playing it on a S1, not on the 2? Interesting! I plan to get this as a physical S1 copy, but to purchase the upgrade and play on the S2 (I plan to do that to the - very few - multiplats I plan on purchasing). Have you got the upgrade already to check the differences? (assuming you have a S2, which you probably do?)
