Forums - Nintendo - Resident Evil 9 Requiem Is Apparently Coming To Switch 2 (And PS4)

The list of big ticket 3rd party games waiting in the wings for the Switch 2 continues to grow overall, games that either semi-confirmed by the developer themselves or outright confirmed or sourced from very reliable leakers:

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Final Fantasy VIIR Part 3
Final Fantasy XVI (port)
Resident Evil 9 Requiem
Starfield
Microsoft Flight Simulator
Forza Horizon
Halo Master Chief Collection
Indiana Jones & The Great Circle (confirmed)
Dusk Bloods
Elden Ring
Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta

RE9 Requiem probably also makes the RE Code Veronica Remake a lock for Switch 2 also. RE2/3/4 Remakes were a given. Good chance here that Switch 2 has the best Capcom support a Nintendo console has seen since the Super NES.

Gaming, IMO, has never been better.  I love the fact exclusives are dying and time-based generations are dying.  Gamers being able to buy whatever hardware they prefer while being able to play most everything is fantastic.  People like me can go high end PC for 4k/120 fps, others can go 1080pDLSS/30fps.  Everybody wins.

I feel like the game card discussion needs it's own thread, it's completely derailing this one, like 90% of posts aren't even about RE Requiem.

There's just a loud group of people on the internet that don't want to have a rational discussion on this anyway, so it's like arguing with a child that they can't eat cotton candy for breakfast every day. Even when you bring up facts and have developers say they literally can't run a game off the cartridge because it's too slow and you show the cost of the cartridge is significant $16/copy, and point out Cyberpunk 2077 is a 4 1/2 year old game that's already paid off its development costs years ago it's just like talking to a brick wall.

I think the sales of these GKCs speak for themselves. Its not just a loud group of people on the internet that dont like these.

All games are available digitally on the Switch 2, so you can buy that for your faster experience or whatever.

Same price why? cause 2k want bigger profit.

Wanting the same profit margin that a new game (NBA 2K26 and Borderlands 4 are brand new day 1 releases) as the PS5/XSS versions is not a crime.

If you guys got your way, and forced devs to make games on slow ass cartridges, these games would be $15 more on the Switch 2 and kill the Switch 2 software ecosystem. Who the fuck wants to pay $15 more for a new game. And guess what, no one would want to even play those games on the cartridge, they'd immediately want to move the game onto the faster internal storage. So basically you're paying $15 extra for nothing.

They can take a slimmer margin on Cyberpunk 2077, it's a 4 1/2 year old game at this point that's already sold 95% of the copies it's ever going to sell.

A developer is not going to eat $15/copy on a brand new day 1 release like NBA 2K26 and Borderlands 4 versus other versions. It ain't happening.

I dont like game key cards and there's nothing you can say to change that

the death of exclusives is a dystopian nightmare scenario for gaming. look how much worse this generation is compared to the 7th generation, which id say is the last generation where each console had its own flavor and did its best to try to convince you to buy it. if you dont have exclusives, there is zero reason to buy your hardware over another.

Agreed, which is wonderful.  I don't need a PC, xbox, ps5, switch 2....  I can have a PC and S2.  Saves me a small fortune.

Yeah, every time a third party game is announced its just "oh its going to be a GKC isnt it?"

It sucks. Nintendo really fucked up with these things.

If third parties don't want to pay for a cart, that's not Nintendo's fault.

If Game Key Cards weren't an option, these publishers would just release their games digitally only or code-in-a-box.

I think Nintendo could of done a more intelligent option of not having Game Key Cards and instead having slow storage cards which the games installs from. Essentially how discs work on playstation/Xbox.

well.. you'll still always need a nintendo console lol. we know theyre never going down that road because they understand how this industry works. they basically invented it after all. so this time for you i guess it'll be PC and switch 2, that covers all your bases.

that was my bad lol

I think any small scope (environment wise) game is well suited for a Switch port. It really is just a case of dialing down the graphics and since the base PS5 version has expensive hair simulations, RT etc. It's easy to see a parred down version working on the Switch 2 without too much trouble.

I drop fps and resolution, frees up a bunch of resources.  Ports should be easy enough.
