[Weekly software and hardware sales figures] Mario Kart World tops the charts for the sixth consecutive week. A tournament is scheduled for October! Rhythm action game Patapon 1+2 Replay also makes it into the top 10 [7/7-7/13]

Sales ranking announced by Famitsu. This time, we bring you a summary of estimated weekly sales figures for game software and hardware from July 7 to July 13, 2025 in Japan.

Mario Kart World continues to do well, in its sixth week since its release. It sold 65,853 units this week, making it the top seller for the sixth week in a row. The game event "Nintendo Live 2025" is scheduled to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from October 4 to October 5 2025, it is also expected to be a big hit with stage events for this title and tournaments in which players invited from all over the world will compete.

In second place is Tamagotchi no Puchi Puchi Omisetchi Omashita! and in fourth place is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Which celebrated it's 8th anniversary back in April. Among the titles that are regulars in the top 10, Patapon 1 + 2 Replay ranked in third place for the first time.

This title is a set and remaster of two rhythm action titles released for the PlayStation Portable. New support elements have been added such as three difficulty settings, input timing adjustment function and constant display function of drum commands, these have also been well received.

Turning to the hardware side of things, the Nintendo Switch 2 sold well again this week, with 71,885 units sold. Although it depends on the number of units shipped, we can expect further sales growth as we enter the summer vacation season.

Maybe they are storing up stock for DKB release

That is the most plausible theory.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

Something weird just crossed my mind. I think it's reasonable to believe that tourists picked up consoles in Japan due to the weak Yen for a while now. Perhaps even in larger numbers to export them to e.g. China.

But with NSW2 retail version being a Japan language version only and the international version only being sold through Nintendo directly as far as I know, The retail version will be less in demand for foreigners/ export.

With Famitsu only tracking retail as far as I know. This could have an impact on reported numbers after the domestic demand has quieted down for NSW2 going forward.

What I mean is a higher percentage of NSW2 sales would not be tracked by Famitsu some time from now.

Oh well, there goes the 100K+ streak the Switch 2 had going.

It'll prolly go up again next week when DK Bananza releases and we'll need to see the legs during the summer vacations as well. It'll be interesting !

Switch Friend Code : 3905-6122-2909

So the streak ends but it could go back above 100k again next week and it already has a non-holiday 100k streak longer than any the Switch 1 had which is insane considering how popular that platform was in its peak so it could very well get another longer streak later on. It's probably not gonna be till August till some sort of picture of what the baseline will be starts happening. Also I wonder how much longer the Switch can remain above 10k.

MK8D still being 4th is something.

Every console down this week compared to last, bummer. (Except, funnily enough, PS4)
Switch 2 at least should blow up next week (as supply allows) with the arrival of DK.

Still kinda surreal seeing Patapon, a classic Sony IP, on the Switch.
