Forums - Nintendo - Why are there so few third-party games announced for switch 2?

Well, I only bought mine for first party games (yes; that's right; I now own a Switch 2; so the next person that comes to me and says I'm just trolling, or on a crusade, or just out to smear the Switch 2 or Nintendo, I am not even acknowledging you; rant over). I own a PS5. If I want third party, that's what I'll play them on. My Switch 2 is a Nintendo machine in this house, 100%. I also refuse to buy key-cards. Only physical media.

So much for your claims in recent weeks and months that you are done with Nintendo due to outrageous prices for hardware and software, and a supposed lack of innovation. Congrats on proving all the people right who called you out for trolling.

When your daughter asks you to buy something in order to spend time together, you will find the words of strangers, particularly those of the mean-spirited, cowardice variety who would never speak even a single ill syllable to your face, rather meaningless.

My friend is an indie dev and told me Nintendo have not opened orders yet for non trusted partners but will soon. Meaning devs kits are just in trusted partners hands right now and Nintendo only sent those out earlier this year for some. So when they open orders for anyone to get a dev kit, more games will be announced.

Quoting this to not get lost.

Elden Ring?

Elden Ring is very old now and I'd be surprised if there was lots of people wanting to play it on Switch 2. I know your thinking "Skyrim was really old too", but Skyrim was one of the most successful games of all time and they released the special edition in 2016 so the Switch was actually getting a new version of the game that also released on PS4 and Xbone the year before.

You also have to remember that this system costs 450$ so you've got to give people more reasons as to why they should part with that money.

Elden Ring is only 3 years old at this point. As far as late ports go it's still pretty recent.

Hell, Cyberpunk 2077 is 5 years old now, yet the Switch 2 port did pretty well from what we know, so clearly there's demand for these kinds of ports.

There are still some software leaks happening.

Reports are Stellar Blade is coming to Switch 2.

Also the Final Fantasy 16 devs hint strongly that a Switch 2 port of FF16 is next:

I think you just want to play devils advocate when it comes to this. Skyrim was almost a 6 year old game when the Switch launched. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition comes with the DLC from 2024 and new content like character classes and weapons.

It's your principles that your daughter overruled. It's not the words of strangers that she rendered meaningless, it's your principles.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

I'm pretty sure people would want to play Elden Ring on the Switch 2 for the same reason they wanted to play Skyrim on the original Switch.

The console is breaking sales records left and right, so it seems to me that people have plenty of reason to part with $450 USD or the regional equivalent.

Also, have you heard of this game?

They weren't my principles. They were my opinions. My only principle when it comes to video games is that I overwhelmingly favor physical media to digital and only buy the latter when there are no other options, and the game looks like its worth playing. Other than that, what you're calling my principles are just my opinions on any given day, and I literally couldn't care less what you or anyone else thinks about them. Likewise, who I am is defined by myself, not by a bunch of angry internet avatars and user names. So you can have at it if it gets you off, but it's not going to matter to me.

Why are there so few third-party games announced for switch 2?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-disclosure_agreement

"A non-disclosure agreement (NDA), also known as a confidentiality agreement (CA), confidential disclosure agreement (CDA), proprietary information agreement (PIA), or secrecy agreement (SA), is a legal contract or part of a contract between at least two parties that outlines confidential material, knowledge, or information that the parties wish to share with one another for certain purposes, but wish to restrict access to."

Why were there so few third party games announced for the PS5 and Xbox Series one month into their releases? And even some of the 3rd party games announced prior to the release like Pragmata haven't released yet 5 years later.
