Forums - Nintendo - The "What Games/Platforms Could Come to NSO" Thread

The DS can technically be done by having both screens shown on top of each other on a single Switch 2 screen. That's how played DS games through the DeSmuME emulator, but I doubt Nintendo is interested in making that work.

That's how Nintendo handled DS games on the Wii U VC, or at least one of the options. There were some Wii games that did the same thing, like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time, which was basically the DS version made for a TV and pointer controls by duct-taping two screens together.

Super Smash Bros. Melee & Mario Kart: Double Dash!! - Likely being saved as individual HD releases.

Likely?? That doesnt make any sense at all lol

OT: I am hoping for mainline pokemon games and DS platform implementation alongside a dual screen add-on for Switch 2

Pikmin 1 and 2 are available as a 2 pack or by themselves. They are not on GameCube's NSO.

I don't think adding GameCube to NSO now means that will never happen with GameCube games again.

Super Mario Sunshine is not a direct comparison to Pikmin 1 and 2 because All-Stars was a limited release.

Do not put it past Nintendo to do HD ports of GameCube games separate from NSO, another remaster (Metroid Prime 2 could get the same treatment as Prime), or even more remakes like Paper Mario TTYD.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 122 million (was 105 million, then 115 million) Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

All the games that you listed are story based titles that segment the whole story of the franchise, so it makes sense to bring back and give a chance to newer gamers play and catch up the lore without dealing on some parts that aged badly gameplay wise and a visual performance that matchs the time they are in

Mario kart and Smash are franchises with no sense of continuity or connection story wise, so theres no reason to have the older titles alongside the newest entry since the new one will have everything that introduces the player to the franchise. Their objective is make the new title the only focus to reach the current audience

All the old content of MK and Smash that is remastered or remaked is added to their current titles as returning characters, retro tracks and arenas for those that are attached to the previous games.

Thats why we NEVER saw a remaster of Mario Kart or Smash. Dont even say Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, that was a totally different case. It was the latest title and only MK game for Switch since they werent ready to move on to the next entry

@160rmf

You make a good point on the Pikmin games as single-player games with a plot.

I just guess we will disagree that Melee and Double Dash will be paid titles. I'm willing to be proven wrong, but I feel Nintendo knows they can get money off of them.

And while anything can happen, I feel if they were coming to NSO and not as paid titles they would've been confirmed already.

Smash 64 isnt available or even announced on NSO till this day...

But like you said, anything can happen. I wont deny the possibility,  but I think the word "likely" is kinda wrongly putted on your probability parameters.

Normally people would use the word "likely" when things have a chance to happen greater than 50%, not below 1%

Smash 64 came to the Wii U VC, so there's some precedent there. I'm in the boat that iterative IPs like Smash and Mario Kart are deep longshots to ever get standalone remakes/remasters instead of just coming to the NSO. It makes sense more sense to do so for single-player and story driven games, but I'd imagine the demand for remastered GameCube games taking the place of brand new entries that push the series forward is pretty minuscule.
