Saw that Backloggd is doing a poll for 2007 GOTY

Decided that its a good topic for a thread here as well.

Maybe a little LTTP but still - I'm just glad I was able to play some of these games that are in my list (that I only was able to play years later like Bioshock, Mass Effect and The World Ends With You).

It's Mario Galaxy.

Of all the games I've ever played, it's one of the closest to being perfect. It's endlessly creative, it controls like a dream, the soundtrack is sublime, and its a masterclass of level design.

2007 is one of the strongest years in the history of gaming; Bioshock, Mass Effect, COD4, Uncharted, Metroid Prime 3, Portal, Halo 3, Crysis, etc were phenomenal as well.

Modern Warfare and Uncharted. I know people dislike Uncharted cause Uncharte 2 was so much better but the first was pretty damn great too, esspecially two years earlier and it was fresh. People don't like COD now but that game revolutionised FPS games, I believe even more than Halo. Never to this day have I seen better maps and the Story at the time was mind-blowing, they had the balls to go sum if all fears among other things and paved the way for publishers, much like Uncharted did, to get out of doing the same old shit, go out of the norm. When I think of the pivotal moments in gaming COD4 is always in there along with MGS, The Witcher 3 or Minecraft for the most impact on gaming as a whole. 

I'm between Mario Galaxy and Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Objectively the best one is Mario Galaxy. My favorite from that year however is team fortress 2. But that's gotten so many updates it's not really the same game from 2007.

2007 is one of those all-time great years.

For me, BioShock edges out Super Mario Galaxy. Exceptional writing & storytelling, high replay value, spectacular art direction and sound design, and brilliant, open-ended gameplay that combines deadly, high-stakes action & thoughtful role-playing systems that encourage experimentation.

I would switch best game play and game of the year. Bioshock wins (pure art in the form of gaming) and best gameplay Mario Galaxy.

granted, I’ve only played two games from 2007 (Super Paper Mario & Mario Galaxy), I’d be shocked to see any game top Mario Galaxy. One of my all-time favorite games!

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Easily one of the most influential games ever, too.
