I told you it wasn't overwhelmingly Nintendo fans. The reason so much of the discussion on VGChartz right now is around Nintendo is cos they just showed off their new console, so naturally that's the hot topic of the moment.

Personally, I was surprised the PC crowd is so heavily represented, but then I don't visit the PC forum often so it makes sense I'd be out of touch with that aspect of the site.

I find it so strange that Zelda won that poll with this distribution. I mean it does go back the longest and it includes OoT which wins nearly every poll even if it were polling the best use of the colour green in a video game or something stupid. It's not baffling but surprising for it to dominate amongst those franchise so heavily.

Not that surprising. PC gamers are the same percentage as Nintendo in your poll. PC gamers also like Nintendo games (plus there are many emulators) and there are magnitudes more PC games than Nintendo games, so votes for PC games will always be more spread out.

You got 36% voting between the top Nintendo franchises (which have remained stable since the 90s) vs 36% voting between 40 years of all games.

Now in the real world there are 1.86 Billion PC gamers (Steam 132 million), XBox claims 200 million active users, 150 million Switches sold and 129 million monthly PSN users. Oh and 3.4 billion mobile phone gamers.

It all overlaps a bit of course

I slowly transitioned to pretty much 100% PC (that's my regular PC + Steam deck). 90% of console games that I own I either have a PC port or a ROM. There's simply no reason for me to play consoles nowadays, when it's more convenient and 9/10 I have better experience on the PC. The hardware that I have I treat as decoration in my office. Occasionally I dust out my WiiU to play some party games with my family.

I have a sizable N64 collection but my last console finally bit the dust several years ago. I’m thinking about getting the Analogue 3D. Built in memory pak, transfer pak, compatible with all original controllers and accessories, and the modern N64 controller from 8bitdo make it a very tempting proposal!

I have found it very difficult to get a working PS1 and my God is it hard to keep a NES alive and accepting carts, I can only imagine how bad it is for N64, corrosion and all. At least those blavk disc on Ps1 might need a wipe but they keep in almost all conditions.

Yeah, and unfortunately there's no vendors in my area that repair consoles, so along with the Analogue 3D, I'm thinking about getting the SuperStation One which is expected to ship later this year. Essentially the same kind of setup as the Analogue 3D, but for the PS1. Design is inspired from the PSone and supports all original hardware and accessories, supports HDTV as well as CRT output, and of course natively play all PS1 games.

The only downside is, unlike the Analogue 3D, you need to purchase a separate dock to insert the disks. Without the dock, you would have to provide ROMs. I would've loved if it was all in a single unit, but if it means I don't have to worry about hardware dying on me, I don't mind as much.

This is what the system is supposed to look like.

Then this is the system with the aforementioned dock with the disc tray

Here's the link if you're interested.

Yeah, very nice. Just it'd be a pain in the arse bringing the games as they say on the site.

??? I mean, I already have my PS1 collection, so......it shouldn't be much harder than inserting the disk lol. Unless you're talking about going out and buying all your PS1 games?

My first console was the SNES. I spend years playing it. Then I got a NES clone, a PS2, and a 2DS.

But I'm totally a PC gamer now. I find it much better to keep all your titles in a single platform, and it's very easy to get games on Steam. So yeah, I'm a PC gamer.

Voted Nintendo my breakdown is likely 60% Nintendo, 35% Sony, 5% mobile. If I get into a single player game then it will skew to that platform for a while. I don't often get grabbed by games anymore though. I still have good games on the PS3 that I have never started. The same goes for PS4, the WiiU, and the Switch.

Used to be more of a Nintendo gamer, have been playing on PC more often the past couple of years.
