Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What will Switch 2 big titles for 2025?

To be honest it seems odd for me that DK Bananza is a July title instead of their holiday title. I feel like if Nintendo's major holiday game was empty as it is now, they would've pushed DK as their holiday title especially if a big developer like the 3D Mario team is working on it. I don't think it would make sense for Nintendo to bank on smaller titles like Kirby Air Riders & Prime 4 as their main games. There is Pokemon Z-A, but its a Switch 1 title too and wouldn't be neccesarily a great Switch 2 system seller just cause of that since Switch 1 owners could already play it.

It almost makes me believe Nintendo does have another big title for the holidays, but at the same time I'm not sure what it could be since it seems like all of Nintendo's big developer's timelines don't match up for a big holiday game. We already know it can't be MK, and if the 3D Mario team worked on DK then it's unlikely they'll have another 3D Mario ready this holiday, Sakurai is working on Air Riders so it can't be Smash 6 either, and its only been 2 years since TOTK so I doubt the Zelda team will have a next Zelda ready this holiday.

The only big titles that I could see happening where the timeline matches up is maybe a new Animal Crossing, maybe Switch Sports 2?? Hard to say.

This could maybe be another holiday where Nintendo just depends on their huge Switch 1 & 2 backlog of games to carry them, Nintendo also seems to have much more 3rd party support this time around so I think that could help fill that gap too.

Pokemon Legends Z-A is the holiday game, probably with Prime 4 in October and Hyrule Warriors in December.

@javi741 That's what I'm thinking too. While ZA, Prime 4, Air Riders and HW are solid for a holiday lineup, the two big ones from that group are also available on NS1. I feel like Nintendo should have a big exclusive NS2 title for its first holiday. I also felt it was weird that DK would be July, and that's why I also felt that they might have one more exclusive to announce for the holidays. Even if the 3D Mario team worked on DK, I feel they can still have 3D Mario for this holiday though. They did Odyssey in 2017 and Bowser's Fury in 2021 (the latter of which had development assistance from other studios), so for them to have two big games take a total of 8 years seems reasonable. Odyssey came just 4 years after 3D World.

I feel like Switch Sports is a prime candidate for a NS2 Edition and I could see the same for Smash. Hopefully both of those come next year. For Smash, I can see a NS2 Edition not including the DLC, much like how BOTW NS2 Edition seemingly doesn't include the DLC. For Smash, I guess you could blame it on there being third party negotiations. I would think NS2 Edition would include new characters in the base game and then its own line of DLC, but including new base characters might make it pricey, so maybe $10 for NS2 Edition and then $20-$30 for 10 or so new first party characters to start (the contents of that pack would be unveiled right away).

Maybe Nintendo has revealed all that's coming to Switch 2 this year. Can't get much bigger than Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza.

Well we already know about the cross gen pokemon legends and Metroid Prime 4, as well as and Kirby Air Ride and Hyrule Warriors.

I'd have to assume 3D Mario will be the big holiday title.

June: MKW

July: DKB

Assuming Aug - Oct: Prime 4, Pokemon Legends, Kirby Air Ride

Assuming Nov: 3D Mario

Assuming Dec: Hyrule Warriors

I'm guessing at most one more first party game. But honestly 3D Mario could be the only game they haven't announced yet.

I'd rather they wait until next year for a new 3D Mario so that Donkey Kong Bananza can get some momentum.

But how is Donkey Kong going to get momentum when people are whining about prices being too high?

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

Because it's apparently cheaper than Mario Kart World.

If Nintendo follows the pattern they did in 2023 the next 3d Mario will release next year after the 2nd movie comes out and the next Zelda would release in 2027 when it's movie comes out.

Since when did whining online had any effect on sales performance?
