It's Nintendo's loss though. Most of the Switch games we have I bought on a whim for my kids. But that was mostly at $50 CAD and some at $60. Paying more than double, estimated $126 for Switch 2 games, that's so far out of impulse buy territory it might as well be on the moon.
And with PS5 games increasing in price as well, A. I will buy fewer games, B. buying a Switch game alongside would push the bill into new console type money...
My kids hardly play with the Switch anymore anyway and I haven't touched it since TotK. Switch 2 might be the first N console I'll miss, or buy much later if the next Mario or Zelda is truly amazing.
Anyway gonna play (debug) some more Hitman 3 VR. PSVR2 games are still 'cheap' !

Damn. No wonder. You've had nothing to worry about, you've been buying games for near half price. 60 CAD is about 38 euro, that's not much less than a good sale price I'm looking for on a triple A game. At 120 you're just now catching up with up Europeans in-between the 69,99 and 79,99 price point. I know this is before tax, but what 10%...maybe? So a little over 40 euro then and 80 euro now. You're just getting pushed from a lower point into the new age pricing which feels more heavy. We got sent here in ten euro increments over many years.
Good news is, not everyone is a greedy pig. There are still good games releasing at 59,99 like The first Berzerker Khazan or KCD2, Pirate Yakuza which is a beefy spin off game or the upcoming Hell is Us which looks great or Minds Eye which looks AAA and even a few at 49,99 like Clar Obscur Expedition 33, these games have versions that are much pricier but the standard editions are very reasonable, I was able to justify The First Berserker Khazan while I can not justify AC Shadows at 79,99. Early sales on these games are an easy buy at any rate, a first sale could look like 35 euro ish, a deep sale after a few months, 25. Can't justify early sales on big budget games anymore however, now I'll be waiting for deep sales to come around on those which will be the same prices I'm looking at now. It's like they think people will actually accumulate more money, perhaps get a second job to afford gaming but that's not the case. The money either goes for games on sale which is money they'll loose out on or it goes on very highly rated games and the lesser reviewed games will get far less less of the pie and not meet budget or fail, combine this with so many games releasing and it's a disaster waiting to happen, like literally this could topple entire well established publishers who have their hands in many pies over two bad failures in a row. The pie does not get bigger and they are not pulling more money in with the times the way they are so what is their game or have they even thought of the consequences, we might be looking at another crash at this point, idk...outside of Japan perhaps, with Nintendo looking to undercut Sony there and Sony likely to react it looks safe. The rest of the world, nah.
Sorry for the rant, my thoughts got away from me. The strangest thing I experienced last year was the most fun I had with a video game and close to the most time I put in at 65 hours was Vampire Survivors for 4,99 as a full price game. It's not all Doom and Gloom for the consumer as long as they don't topple the industry, Sony or Nintendo don't go under somehow and we loose our digital libraries but it is very much Doom and gloom for people who rely on jobs in the industry, many should be very anxious.
