Did they mentioned something about Ray Tracing support? Not sure if I saw it.

It's running Star Wars Outlaws which is a RT mandatory game.

Couldn't help myself and got spoiled on the Direct while at work. But I finally got some time to sit down, watch it, and somewhat digest it.

And I honestly felt a bit underwhelmed. Nintendo's first party presence wasn't as heavy as I expected, and honestly, I think having a Direct almost a week ago was a marketing misstep. Having Switch 2 versions of Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends ZA would've been huge, and easily bumped this showing up for me by at least a point. We got so many third party games shown, that have already released, rather than upcoming third party games that are coming out. I will say though, Mario Kart World, while not exactly my cup of tea, did look incredible from a technical perspective. And Donkey Kong Bananza blew me away! Easily the game of the show.

It seems like Nintendo wants to push NSO adoption harder in the Switch 2 generation. Game Chat isn't really my thing but it does look like a fun feature to use. And I'm actually really hyped for the GameCube catalog. An exclusive From Software title was shocking, but not as shocking as finding out its a multiplayer based game lol. Seems a bit counter intuitive to have it exclusive to Nintendo of all platforms, but its a somewhat serious move to drive NSO subscriptions. They need to modernize their online platform some more if they want those PlayStation Plus numbers.

The presentation was just sorta weird, Iwata and Miyamoto and Reggie are really missed for these kinds of presentations because they bring a lot more charm, even Koizumi and guys like that do. The way games were presented was all over the place too.

But there's actually quite a bit of a 1st party/1st party adjacent content.

Mario Kart World (June)
Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour (June)
Donkey Kong Bananza (July)
Drag x Drive (August?)
Metroid Prime 4 (2025)
Pokemon Z-A (2025)
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (Winter)

That is already 7 game releases ... June-December is only 7 months, I'm guessing they still have one more big release for 2025 that they will show later in a June Direct.

My thoughts on everything announced.

- The Switch 2 Camera, shout out to the PS Eye Toy. Where are all of the people who complain that Sony always copy Nintendo?

Game Boy had a camera in 1998.

Dreamcast has the DreamEye in 2000.

Nintendo at E3 2002 showd a camera for GBA that used motion tracking. They canceled it but it was shown. Eyetoy was out in 2003.

Try again

Which one looks most like what Nintendo showed off with their camera? The handheld peripheral that took pixelated photos? The Japan exclusive web cam that was only compatible with one game? Or the multiplayer party game from 2005?

This is just basically a fun little DLC bonus to a game that's not even a Switch 2 game, lol. It's not like it's some central feature of the systeim.

The camera is there primarily for video chat. People cried that Nintendo tied chat to a seperate smartphone app last time, this time it's in the system OS integrated with both voice and video chat options and some people still want to complain about something or other.

"...which may sound primative now, but it's actually twice the resolution of what the PlayStation Eye Toy was capable of years later..."

At one point I owned 2 Dreameye sbut I gave one to Nathan Barnatt (Kieth Apricary/DAD Channel) I have my other one out on display. Used the video and taken pictures.

Was a good presentation. Though, the frame rates of the video sharing features while gaming, was terrible.
