Soon we will know, even if they keep a significant mechanic hidden, like they did the capture mechanic in odyssey hidden until later.

We really need 2 3D Mario games on Switch 2. Wii had the Galaxy games, and they are masterpieces.
Switch has a 3D Mario game, a compilation of ports of the first 3D Mario games, and an enhanced port with a new campaign under 10 hours. So that's about 1.25-1.33 or so 3D Mario games in terms of new content.
If Mario Kart is a launch day title, I don't see it as a blunder to not have 3D Mario the same day. I'd rather have 3D Mario come out a month to 6 months later after launch if it needs it. But of course, I hope it's ready at launch.

Same old same old. More goombas, more of the same powerups and maybe a couple new ones, bowser, etc.

Makes sense to me, and I hope they'll do that!
They should add dating Sim elements. That would be a left field move

Technically, there was a Super Mario 64 part 2. But the game was in development well beyond the N64, so it was rebranded as Super Mario Galaxy.
The game I hope for is Super Mario Galaxy 3. The first two are my favourite 3D platformers of all time.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
VR would be get me back, Astrobot Rescue Mission even now proves better than Astrobot flats reen. VR showed promise of 3D platformers evolving and when you go back to flat screen you see such crazy limitations and faults such as a lack of depth that gets you killed, significantly noticeable in earlier titles like Crash Badicoot but still very noticeable in Astrobot flatscreen and more so in Super Mario when he is genre bending. I wouldn't mind a Super Mario Galacy with bigger planets, like really big planets and really open with exploration as a goal but Nintendo need a Trophy system to bolster their ecosystem, I'm only returning either for that or VR.
As great as Odyssey is, I don't want the next 3D Mario to just be Odyssey 2. Should be it's own thing for Switch 2. I imagine we will find out on April 2. Expecting it to be the big October 2025 title, with Z-A occupying November 2025.

Nintendo has several times during the Switch gen released sequels or semi-sequels in the same month their predecessor came out and that might hold true for Super Mario.
Releasing Odyssey on October 27th certainly didn't hurt it compared to the more expected November release month. And same with Super Mario Bros. Wonder as an October title.
Z-A seems like the obvious November title, with Super Mario better for mid to late October.
Then again, mid-October could already be late 2025 in Nintendo's eyes. That would mean Z-A would come out in the second half of October and Super Mario might be saved for November.
