How would you rank the four New Super Mario Bros. games? These games got good to great reviews and sold really well. Which is your favorite.

Here is my ranking:

1) New Super Mario Bros. Wii

2) New Super Mario Bros. U

3) New Super Mario Bros. (DS)

4) New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)

I will flip your 1 and 2, otherwise I agree.

The DS one might be the original, but the level design really isn't all that good. I also thought the mega mushroom was a stupid idea.
The coin gimmick in 2 never worked for me, and the game was just way too easy.
The two home console versions are the good ones, with the one for Wii U having the most consistent and creative level design.

The one I played most was NSMB Wii. But I pretty much only played The first DS game and the Wii game. When NSMB U dropped I was already so over the formula that I never gave it much of a chance. Frankly the only things I remember today about the games is the helicopter-hat from Wii and the minigames from the DS version.

I never really wanted to return to them the same way I return to most of the Super Mario games from Snes and Nes era.
The multiplayer was kind of dope in them all. Expecting a new Super Mario All stars around Swtich 2 half time.

I think NSMB Wii is the only one that's genuinely good.

NSMB U is okay, but derivative. It's saved by having co-op.

NSMB and NSMB 2 are both pretty dull, but 2 moreso than the first one.

So my list is the same as yours.

I'd go with Wii as the best because it introduced multiplayer and the helicopter power-up is great. U is the next best, but the formula was already old by then and that gliding squirrel power-up sucked. The original was ok and it was great to have the series back, but the game's structure was bad. And "2" was easily the most forgettable for me.

None of them can hold a candle to the original 2D games though, unless you count the true SMB2, which is terrible.

2 Gets the nod over 1 because the coin rush mode was pretty neat. Although the main game was not as good.

I play single player in these games and Wii and U is meant for co-op, so theyre not that fun to play for me.

I've only played Wii and U. I had so much fun with the Wii version playing multiplayer with the college roommates having some beers. I enjoyed the Wii U version, but played that solo, so I didn't enjoy it nearly as much.

Same as you I guess. Top 2 are clear to me, tho my #3 and #4 could switch places and its still fine to me.
