Platformers. Nintendo and indies can only carry so far!

There's a boar load of platformers. Many are mixed up in other genres like metroid vania but there are also many straight releasing like Sonic games, Astrobot, Celete, The messenger or that new AA game with the weird name that copies Banjoo Kozooi as a few off the top ofbmy head. Check the platformers section on PS5 and it'll bring up a massive list. Too many to keep up with.

Proper stealth games, spy games, tactical shooters, etc. And while I appreciate the recent abundance of indie tactics games, we need XCOM 3 to remind them all how it's really done.

Oh, and we need more platformers that aren't mascot based. I can only play Mirror's Edge so many times.

I'm an old hat, so I would love if good old fashioned point and click adventures made a comeback. In the vein of Monkey Island, Zak McKracken and other classics like that.
There have been some half-assed attempts over the years, but they were nowhere near the magic of the golden age.
But yeah, they are too slow for the modern world, so not gonna happen.

Turn based strategy.

I have recently acquired the Discworld series on PS1, plan to start them soon, heard they are great.

On topic.

I think a lot has been last in the last decade or so for family fun interactive gaming, sure Switch allows you to do some stuff but Sony back in the day got massive thanks to Singstar or Buzz Quiz.

Also, more ATB Final Fantasys. :P

Hmm, pie.

Astrobot just took home a bunch of awards last year.

yeah it did! Just goes to show how critically beloved these games are whenever they do release.

We need more Suikoden-type games. Hands down.

You want a comeback of point & click adventure games? We get plenty of them every year. The ones I listed above are just some highlights of the last 3 years.

Battle racers. What other racing games apart from Mario Kart still have weaponry to take competitors out?

Also Turn-based wargames like Panzer General or Battle Isle. It's all quiet on that front now...

Arcade shooters like Gradius are also pretty rare nowadays. Most that came out in the last decades were bullet hell titles, which I hate.

Finally "Boomer" FPS. There's really just Serious Sam which really keeps this genre going. Really wish there was a new Unreal/Quake/Duke Nukem (yes, really) coming out. Doom has changed too much for my taste, and Wolfenstein looks dead since Youngblood.

I thought Return to Monkey Island was a great modernized take on point and click adventures. You definitely do need to go down the indie hole to find quite a few others, but worth it!
