I've been keeping an eye on it, and I'm intrigued. However, in its current state, it's damn near unplayable on PC. Just watched another DF video last night, this is disastrous, even worse than Dragon's Dogma II. As Chazore has mentioned above; the RE engine is showing its true colors (and stutters and texture issues on top of that). While the gameplay looks like great fun, and the progression system is tried and true, I can't make myself play this as is. These issues become even more glaring on a big 4K display with good color-grading.

The PC version is apparently run two types of DRM simultaneously causing the CPU to take a massive hit, lol. I guess they're really afraid of piracy.

The game looks quite meh visually IMO, Capcom just can't optimize or isn't even bothering to try (getting the game to release before the fiscal year end probably is a far higher priority).

So many of the Youtube comments are shitting on the game for mediocre visuals and bad performance, lol.

Capcom needs a much better engine badly, this thing was not designed for anything but narrow scope Resident Evil games. Dragon's Dogma II was hilarious too in that it wasted a ton of CPU overhead on NPCs that weren't even on screen that people realized if you started killing NPCs, the game's frame rate would go up, lol.

Is it worse than Black Myth Wu Kong on Balanced mode on PS5? I can forgive it if it's not worse than that and I'm in need of some easy gameplay anyway, might buy in before next weekend if players numbers on steam fail to back up the uplayability of it. If it's truly as bad as some people are saying then numbers should fall... although this is monster Hunter. Hmm. Worlds connections issues never deterred anyone.

Oh wow. The steam numbers didn't actually peak any higher and its Saturday night with only 600k players in game. I guess it is that broken.

Whoah. I was not expecting it to be THAT bad. This is the worst one yet and not even high end PCs can save it, I seen stuff on PC with 4090s and the textures look just as bad as it running on the base PS5. Looks like the best place to play is the PS5 Pro but even that doesn't have the high res texture pack (which still looks poor). I'm frankly gobsmacked,
. Rise, a game for the Nintendo Switch is more visually appealing than this game, fuck sake some of the textures on the ps4 version of Rise look better than some textures I've seen on PC. Mind-boggling, like that DF presenter said, it's a desert, there is nothing happening on screen.

It just gets worse the longer the 9th gen goes on, if it wasn't for KCD2 looking and performing damn well and setting clear goals on what they want the game to look like as to not ruin the image quality, I'd say we had a big problem on our hands. Devs will only be able to see this and start to make choice on games in early development now, so 3 years? Before we see this problem resolved. Whoch will be the PS6 and then they'll budget the graphics higher and ... ah, I can't think about it. Games were better when they were being developed for 8th gen consoles first and then ported to PC. PC is ruining our console games.

The double DRM is just every publisher suit thinking that. Notice how indie devs barely give a shit, but the big corpos do, despite their games selling well?.

Capcom's engine is fine, but it was not created in mind for open world games that feature a lot of NPC's and other entitles. I suggested before that they should simply fork the engine in two; one for smaller worlds like Resident Evil, and the other for larger more open ended words. This way they will not have to completely modify the engine only for open worlds, and then possibly run into issues later on for smaller ones (because problems can come back to bite you in the ass when it comes to game engines, like with Bethesda as a primary example).

That being said, I would rather they simply fork their engine than to pull a CDPR and just drop it and going for UE5, where we'll only really see more and more stuttering and jank loading times. I'm more for pubs/devs making their own engines today more than ever (That and I don't want Epic actually having a monopoly they think they deserve, but don't).

I hope this drives the point home for people, that buying/pre-ordering for day 1 doesn't make logical sense anymore, especially for a game like MH, where you can play it by yourself or set up a lobby with friends at any other point in time. There is no real rush to play a game like MHW day 1, and as we've seen time and time again within the AAA space, it's that day 1/month 1 games end up performing poorly (unless you're DOOM, and I'll keep using that as the joke, because it's sad that DOOM is the one game I can bring up that runs stupidly well on multiple systems).

People are better off not buying day 1 and instead doing what I do and just sit back and watch how things pan out, then judge from the resulting outcomes afterwards (Also you can wait for a sale later on, and usually your patience pays off in this regard).

Tried to play with my partner this weekend (both on XBOX Series X), while she had one crash the entire weekend, I had the game crash every 20 to 30 minutes, about every third time not only the game, but the entire console would shut down. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and also factory reset the XBOX, didn't change anything. Mine is a launch day model while hers was bought about half a year later (when trying to troubleshoot I found one guy saying that different versions of the Series X could have trouble and that you can tell the versions by the vents on the back, but hers and mine look identical). I have given up now and let her play the game solo (luckily, I haven't paid anything for it, we share via "home XBOX").

And you get to save money. I don't think this will be the moment though that'll wake people up even though many have and aren't niying games at all but it'll take more to get the enthusiasts and even the casuals who buy games and play for less than one hour and then a fortnight later buy another game and play less than one hour, something unique to the games industry which is like people buying into a film in the cinema, watvhing the trailers and intro credits and then walking out. It'll take price increases along with unplayable games to get those people awoken to the fact that they are wasting their money and still some will do it anyway. Cyberpunk couldn't do it for the masses. FC24 couldn't do it for the sports gamers. Etc.

I was happy to support KCD2 & Stellar Blade devs at full price, as they done it right but yeah, since 2020 and Cyberpunks disaster I've bought 7 games at full price. Just better to wait even for the good ones that aren't broken, you get a better experience with post launch patches that make the game better like with Stellar Blade and you save sometimes half price. If they end up raising prices, especially for broken games at launch, they can expect everyone to become like me waiting for sales and they won't make any meaningful profit off base game sales.

That sucks. I hope you get a patch. Tbf, the game doesn't look like the most fun MH, not even a central hub and focused more on story during the campaign, going back and forth to quest markers, can be beaten in 15-20 hours and post game is quite light comparatively awaiting a content roadmap. Best to wait until the expansion or try the fully realised Rise/Sunbreak now all built out with crazy ammounts of content if you haven't already.
