Forums - Sales Discussion - Monster Hunter Wilds is around the corner. Let's predict first week sales!

Monster Hunter World opened with 5 million across PS4 and Xbox One, but the PC version came out several months later for an additional 1.5-2 million~ copies if memory serves me right.

Things Wilds has going for it:
1. Bigger IP now than it was prior to World's launch.
2. PC version releasing simultaneously with PS and Xbox.
3. Larger Playstation and PC/Steam active playerbase.

Things it has going against it:
1. Some doubts concerning sales in Japan.
2. Xbox is smaller than it was as far as traditional software sales.
3. Likely a fewer double dippers than World and Rise.
4. Higher price compared to World and Rise.

Edit:

It sold 8 million copies in 3 days.

Poll results:

I'm gonna say 8 Million. It seems like a good guess.

It'll be between 6-8m

It will very likely do 10m and if it's technical issues are mostly resolved it's sales on Steam will be absolutely wild. It will easily do 1m concurrent players on Steam I believe. Who knows what the limit is.

8 million is my prediction.

Edit: People are so pissed off about the game's looks and performance lol. Not good.

I'd say the same as world. They raked in most all of whom they'll get and the economy and cost of living everywhere will keep sales numbers down. I think we are starting to see the damage that that is doing but it makes me think if people are saving their money for the really good games perhaps games that are this big will do better. I'm actually gonna assume the latter and say a million more, so 6 million if it gets a high aggregate. Yeah, I think people holding back on the likes of Veilgaurd or Star Wars Outlaws will have a sling shot effect for this game...actually, I'm gonna go 6-7 million if aggregate are high, esspevially since it's a co-op game.

I will go 5 to 6 million mostly due to Japan and the lacking that wow factor that World had. Wild was a massive change for the series when it came to graphics and scope. Wild however looks pretty damn poor for a PS5 game. Also the game does not release on Switch, where it would most likely have sold over 2 million in Japan alone.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

World opened with 2 million copies sold in Japan on PS4 alone. How far behind that do you expect Wilds will sell on PS5 and PC combined?

I wouldn't read too much into MediaCreate/Famitsu's numbers without taking into account PS digital and PC. Street Fighter 6 had an abysmal opening and disappeared from the physical charts quickly, and yet we know it passed a million.

Edit: I keep forgetting about Xbox. It should add some 50k+ lol. World didn't launch on Xbox in Japan.

100k

When will we know. Lots of games gave the 1 million passed day one release now but for World when did we know when they sold 5 million.
