My job is to work with volunteers. Thanks for what you do. I’m not sure most folks know how much of the work being done in their communities is being done by volunteers.

Photography is so fun. Well, depending. Sitting waiting for birds or wildlife is more of a pain than fun but finding a perfect spot and then returning at the right time of day for the lighting or subject is one hell of a dopamine high, when you get it right.
He'll, you don't need cameras for the hobby anymore either, flagship smart phones are right up there with DSLRs now, if they could only shoot RAW files they'd be on par or better if they could edit those RAW files with pre installed software on the device with no need for a paid app.

Combining the two is great fun. I used to make all kinds of timelapse videos like this
It's very time consuming as you can imagine and I got out of it after software updates slowed everything down and caused frequent crashes while trying to render sub parts. It became frustrating rather than fun to do. Newer video tools don't even support my 1080p digital camera anymore, extremely slow and crash prone.
Maybe once I get a Mac book and modern camera I'll get back to it. Also winters aren't that pretty anymore, it's been over a decade since I have seen scenes like this:
Summers are still very pretty around here, but I take mental pictures nowadays lol. Going for a run around the trails is my favorite, especially along deer trails right along the river. Running with a camera (or phone) is still just annoying.
Got to travel to get new inspiration!

Oh yeah. I forgot to reply to you in the other thread. The sun started to show here the last two days! I hope it is starting to come out for you over there even if it's bouncing up from the snow which can be just as good as a sunny day too if its hitting the right angles.

Yesterday had the sun appearing while it went up to 7c. I was out in shorts, no sleeves, clearing snow off the deck and roof. It's such a great morale boost to actually feel the sun on your skin after nothing but grey and cold.
But no pretty scenes, ugly old melting ice and brown stained snow piles. The dog desperately needed a bath after a 10 minute walk lol. Then back to trying to fish the snow rake off the roof that got stuck 2 days earlier, the cheap pole came loose ffs. (I got it back today finally) Life tip: don't get a metal roof unless you like avalanches taking out fences and newly planted trees!
Today running again, the sun tried to get through the clouds, managed just enough to feel some warmth so I kept going. The river above the dam is still frozen, no ice flows yet. It never froze by our house despite -14c nights. -20c is needed before it freezes below the dam.
Dam is a big word, this is it
Clear blue skies, where are you nowadays!
This is our town (before a big apartment building, down right, started obstructing the view.
Down town is a mess right now, all the infrastructure is being redone, streets getting dug up.
Anyway I got recharged a bit, the forecast however is bleak. Sunday for the next chance to see some sun, back to -10c high during the day :/

Aside from gaming and porn? What else is there to do

Learn to do something that will get you through the good but also the bad times in life, something so powerfully fullfiillling that when the chips are down you'll have some embers that you can use to ignite yourself. Also a reason to meet people or be sociable or something to talk about passionately with people cause gaming is up there with dreams for the things people don't wanna hear about.
Music, art, working out, building things, helping people out through volutntry work...there is a lot of fulfilling things you can do and uou have to find one powerful enough that someone could die and you'd use it as an escape still in the most horrid siuations like that.
I'm not one for life advice but picking up the guitar and other instruments was the most helpful thing I've ever done for myself. A whole life time of hobby skipping to finally find the one thing that sticks the test of time and all situations. Try and find that thing for yourself. It's worth finding. I can put a guitar in my lap and instantly feel just slightly better at the worst of times.
