Forums - Gaming Discussion - Best Games That Are or Will Turn 30 This Year?

Out of the ones you mentioned Chrono Trigger and its not even a competition. Chrono Trigger is a goat amongst goats.

I have a soft spot for DQVI and Tales of Phantasia tho. Of course I played them much later than 1995, back in the day when I used to emulate games you couldnt find in the western hemisphere.

Quite a few favorites turning 30!

WipeOut

Wipeout is one of my favourite series ever, love them all (well except 2048, never gelled with that) and was having a discussion with someone recently about the first game that truely made me think "Wow, this is what graphics can do?" as in the next step of what gaming was.

And it was WipeOut hands down.

We went from Super Mario Kart to this.

Sure I'd seen Daytona in the arcades but the style, look, music, design of WipeOut was to me on another level when it was in front of me on the living room TV.

Hmm, pie.

WipEout

Tekken 2

Descent

Even though it's much harder than the original, special mention to Earthworm Jim 2.

I have to go with Tekken 2.
Also, NBA Live 96 on the SNES and Genesis was great and one of the best sports games on both consoles. Starting in 1996 most sports games were miles better on the PS1 then the SNES and Genesis.

Jim 2 was cool, didn't know it released that year. Never played the first game.

It has moments where it feels just plain unfair, but it still has fun combat and the same wackiness as the first game. The ending cutscene is just plain ridiculous for the right reasons. XD

Wow 1995 was an off year. I guess Wipeout. I'll name the best that turns 20, God of War.
