possible Switch 2 - Joycon leak:

"... this confirms the leaker guy who said the color scheme is "below the surface" and the brave redditor who made a mockup that looks exactly like this "

".. So that plus on the switch leak from handheld guy was a magnet release button "

"With the amount of leaks we are seeing, this thing has wrapped development and is either in full production or test production. "

"January 8 guys "

Apparently the serial number on this alleged Switch 2 Joycon works on the Nintendo's support website, so it seems legit!

Yeah you can just tell by looking at it, it's a mass produced product, not a 3D print anyway, but that basically seals it.

Looks like someone maybe took it into the bathroom at Foxconn during their break and snapped some photos.

Why couldn't he take a picture of the damn buttons.

Source: Trust me, bro. It's still just a random motherboard and he still doesn't confirm anything.

EDIT: Look, here's an image of the highly confidential PS6 motherboard. Please don't tell anybody, it's top secret.

Happy for you.

No, the source is a guy that has extensive and recorded history on his channel tearing down and modding the internals of consoles and controllers, etc.
And he explained the reasoning for why this would be very difficult to fake. Surprised at your dissmissive and rude responses over a subject you seemingly know very little about, towards someone that does.
In those cases I tend to ask more questions rather than making sarcastic assertions.

No, the motherboard cannot belong to "anything" because its size, layout and ports clearly portray a smaller sized system. And none that I know of also have a game cartridge slot. SD card slots have a different size.
Add to this that a lot of it lines up with shipment data between manufacturers and Nintendo for parts, and that's why you have people reaching the conclusions they have.

Some people treat all rumors with the same validity, when they shouldn't.

When I posted the thread about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake reveal leak a few hours ahead of time, what was different about that rumor from every other is that a reputable publication (Siliconera) went on record to say they verified it themselves.
That's very different from reporting on someone elses rumor.
Here they put their own reputation on the line, saying "we've seen it".

Why would they risk taking a huge hit to their credibility over something that would be dispelled a few hours later that same day?
That made me very certain that it was true. Despite this, there were a bunch of people here who didn't believe it.

I think it's an important skill to learn to apply critical thinking to rumors, rather than just going by the first thought that comes to mind.
And people on forums like these have a unique opportunity to do so since we dabble in the subject often.

For example, you may not be aware that SpawnWave knows his way around the internals of electronics.
But the way he spoke in the first few seconds of that clip very heavily suggests that he does.
So you do a quick 5 second search on his channel, and then you see a bunch of videos like this pop up.

So yes, I'm inclined to trust the assessment that this would be "very difficult to fake, and is a really really good one in that case" from a person that repaied consoles for a living, and still makes videos tearing down and explaining the components on gaming motherboards.

Yeah, I am sorry. Thank you for providing context. I agree that I shouldn't have said anything about a topic that I care little about. I didn't want to crash the party.

No worries.
I could have also added that he's experienced with motherboards in my initial post, instead of thinking it would be implied in the way he spoke. But your mindset here is all anyone could ask for.

Supposedly a picture from the dock, leaked (its blurred out) apart from the interesting new thing, the person wanted to report on.

https://x.com/LaurakBuzz/status/1876581687842558371

"This is a new photo I have recieved from a trusted source showing a Switch 2 Dock, featuring visible input and output voltage information (other information obscured). In addition, I have learned that the Switch 2 ships with a 60W charger for use with the dock." - LaurakBuzz

the take away:

Switch 2, will apparently come with quick charging.
So instead of it taking like 3hours from 0%..... I'll likely take like less than 1hour, with the Switch 2 (for a full charge).

I wouldn't be surprised if like 80% charge or so, can be done in less than 30mins.

This is a big thing, for people that like the portable aspect of it (not really something I use much myself).

edit:
People on resetera are saying leaker might not be trustworthy.... so this is more on the side of a maybe.... but it makes sense right? (ei. Switch 2, would focus on battery charge times being better, since it is also used as a handheld device by many)

Switch 1 use a 42w charger and the leaked one use 60w, if this is true I think the TV mode will have much more power than handheld mode, but this is expected if Nintendo want some games in 4k (using dlss of course).

PS: Steam Deck Oled use a 45w charger.

"Nintendo has changed its banner to Mario and Luigi presenting a blank background.
Looks like the official Switch 2 announcement should be coming soon! "

This could be a nothingburger... or potentially getting ready for something Nintendo wants Mario & Luigi to present for the world.

------------------------------------------

Also here is a Switch 2 pro controller from CES:

https://www.neogaf.com/threads/switch-2-pro-controller-also-has-the-mysterious-c-button-3rd-party-controller-shown-at-ces.1679367/

As Kevboard points out, on Neogaf.... this controller also has the C button.

This in turn means this button isn't tied to the joycons but some function, the Switch 2 will have, that all controllers for it must then have.
ei. not cursor and a button to use the joycons like a mouse ect.

His guess is this could be like a "chat" button? he also mentions its positioning is close to where Sony has its "mute" button (on the dual sense).
And that its above where you would expect a microphone jack to be.

Just speculation but.... interesting take.

(others think it could be a "capture" button, used for screenshot or recording small game clips)

Also this kinda confirms the name of Switch 2 imo.... right?
So people hoping for Nintendo to go some odd route of naming again are likely wrong this time.

So the newest "leak" (from Famiboards) seems to be a 560 Mhz handheld clock known from data-mining. Not bad, not bad, if true. Should probably allow it to run games similar to Steam Deck graphics quality settings, but with DLSS & more memory bandwidth it would be capable of reaching slightly higher effective image quality.

And again, the Switch 2 would be able to do this at lower power-levels because it takes a wide (many core) and slow (low clock-rate) architecture, which is more power-efficient than the Steam Deck's few-core, high clock-rate repurposed APU. That and the fact that it doesn't need to depend on a compatibility layer, and it has an ARM chip.

Assuming the docked mode is about 1.66 times the handheld clock-rate (akin to the original Switch's 768Mhz vs. 460Mhz) we're looking at a 896Mhz dock mode. For those of you interested in the TFLOPs that is about 1.72 TFlops in handheld, and 2.75 TFlops in docked mode. (See Edit) Probably would put the Switch 2 (docked) at roughly half the Series S in terms of raw raster-capability given how RDNA2 and Ampere compare, flop for flop. Closer to the Series S when talking about ray-tracing/raster mixed workloads.

EDIT:

Same leaker is saying 1007.3 Mhz for Docked mode. So 3.1 TFlops. 54% of Series S "raw rasterization" assuming Ampere vs. RDNA2 relative raster-unit/TFLOP.
