Forums - Nintendo - Switch 2 Hype Train

Ok, so after tempering my excitement for Switch 2 news and information (rightly so, I might add) it is now time to fully embrace Switch 2 Hype Fever. This is the year, perhaps even the quarter, when we will get what we have been waiting for. Details, details, details!

So climb aboard and let’s hype with childish abandon. We will not be hyping responsibly here. Feel free to pass the time talking about games or IPs you’re excited to see new versions of, share stories of previous console release hype trains and memories of waiting in line for that next gen experience. And if you’d like to reminisce on the generation that was the Switch, let’s share our love for Nintendo’s Phoenix, bringing this beloved gaming company back into the hearts and hands of millions of gamers.

I am officially hyped!

I have work to do, so I can't be focusing on all these rumors. Nintendo just needs to reveal the thing and show us the mainline 3D Mario game (which'll get like 99OC/98MC) & MarioKart. That alone would get me extremely excited.

I don’t care for the leaks. This certainly isn’t intended to be that kind of thread. This is more just about bing excited for Next Gen and reflecting on the Switch. I’m also not impatient for information. Nintendo will share with us when they are ready. When the launch titles have gone gold and the units are stocked up and they are ready to lead us into the next Nintendo era.

I also am excited to see a new 3D Mario (open world, please) and Mario Kart. It’s crazy to think how long it’s been since new iterations in both these series.

Really hoping Switch 2 comes out in the first half of the year or October at the latest. November is the latest I can see it happening. Nintendo is leaving money on the table if they don't launch Switch 2 until March 2026.
Overdue Big IPs
-3D Mario. It's been 7 years since Odyssey. And even if you throw in Bowser's Fury, it's nearly 4.
-Mario Kart. It is time for a new Mario Kart that isn't a mobile game or toy app.
Big IPs that should get a new game within the first 2 years
-Animal Crossing
-Super Smash Bros.
Overdue IPs
-Donkey Kong
-Star Fox
-Rhythm Heaven
-Wario Land
-F-Zero
-Nintendogs
-Pilotwings

I saw this idea somewhere, I don't know if it was here or another site, but what they absolutely should do, but probably won't because it'd be so freaking expensive:

The Super Bowl is right around the corner - Well over 100 million people watch that game. There would be NO BETTER time and opportunity to reveal their next console to the whole world then in their own Super Bowl Ad during the game. A 2-3 minute ad - Probably closer to 2 minutes because, Holy Shit, do those Super Bowl ads cost a fortune in marketing. But THAT'S where you do the reveal trailer announcing that Switch 2 is on the way with a release window (Q3-Q4 2025) and you show glimpses of the games coming out for it (Metroid Prime 4, next 3D Mario, next Mario Kart, some high-profile Third-Party games that weren't on the Switch like GTA or COD).

Then, as the entire world is buzzing and hyped up over the reveal, you announce on all your social sites (Twitter, Facebook, etc) that you're hosting a Switch 2 presentation coming up in June with all the details coming there including launch lineup - You could probably even announce that Metroid Prime 4 will be the launch title and use that game as the example/tech demo of how much better Switch 2 is than Switch 1 - hardware wise.

You do the presentation - Reveal the release date (I say it's early September) - Prime 4 is the launch title, and then the next 3D Mario is late October and the next Mario Kart is late November.

I feel like its time for a new Mario Kart game....
Same with 3D Mario.   DKC feels like it could use a new game as well.... So hopefully we get some of that in 2025.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is in 2025 as well.

I hope the backwards comparability rumors are true as well.... so it'll play all the Switch games you own physically.
other than that, I just want to be surprised. Want to see what Nintendo have been cooking for the Switch2.

I think the Super Bowl ad idea is great as a follow up to an initial reveal. After Nintendo does a reveal people will be all over social media, YouTube, talking with friends, etc. You want space and time for that to breathe. After a Super Bowl ad people will go right back to doing all that social media talking about the game (and whatever other Super Bowl commercials aired) and I personally don’t think it would have the right depth. It isn’t the worst idea, but Nintendo likes to be the star of its own show. Don’t believe me, look what they done to E3 with the Nintendo Direct.

I can't wait to see what the Zelda and Mario teams can do with stronger hardware

We're not gonna see another mainline 3D Zelda game for at least another 4y/5y. (It's crazy to think that TotK will be 2yo as of May...) Maybe 2D?

I believe we'll see it a bit sooner then that as ToTK didn't receive any dlc or major patches. But yeah it's probably not a luanch title.
