Similar for me but I would guess early April reveal.

2024 OpenCritic Prediction Leagues:

Nintendo | PlayStation | Multiplat

Announcement: January 8
Big Presentation: March 20
Release: June 20

I'm feeling it. I know Switch and Switch 2 have surprised me so far, but I don't see a launch later than September. They could wait until November, but I'm really not feeling that long from now.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 48 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Images of the Switch 2 dock and the side of the system (where the Joycon's magnetically connect) are out, but the user edited the backgrounds with AI to prevent Nintendo being able to trace where the photos came from leaked yesterday. I think Nintendo basically has to reveal this month or be subject to a ton of leaks.

Here is the new Switch 2 dock with the back plate removed (AI background removed). Note the new vents which are likely for a new internal fan inside the dock itself:

Here is the side of the Switch 2 (image unflipped):

The background is AI I guess as a dumb way to prevent Nintendo from finding out where the leak is from, but the dimensions of the system side slot match up exactly with previously leaked images of the Joycons from September. An AI wouldn't be able to generate that (ie: exactly 13 pin connector)

Think a reveal will be in January, there's too many leaks happening at this point. The Switch 2 name and logo also leaked.

Adult people always played videogames. The thesis that Playstation moved games to adults is a myth nothing more. There where always mature games on Nintendo and Sega Consoles. Calling MK, Golden Axe, Metroid... "kiddy" is nothing than BS. I lived at this time and i can confirm that several adults played Sega and Nintendo!

There is no denying that mature games were becoming more widespread in the mid-late 90s but I think that has less to do with PlayStation and more to do with the simple fact that kids who played NES/Genesis/SNES in the late 80s-early 90s were becoming teens & young adults so the market for those types of games was naturally going to grow regardless of which console was dominant.

Could also be a possibility.

@Soundwave
If I was Nintendo i would just delay the announcement again just to kick leakers balls. They won't let pressure get to them. They can unveil it in summer as well if they wanted. Right now i am going with a jannuary teaser and a may- july release. March 2025? I guess we'd be lucky if Nintendo really unveiled it by then.

I mean it's pretty much logic.

If you were 10 years old in 1990 when Super Mario Bros. 3 launched in the West and in the target demo for that, you would be 15/16 when the PS1 launched and 20 when the PS2 launched.

Think about how different you were at age 10, 15, and 20.

I mean doing that only helps the leaker, lol, because I'm sure they have more photos than just that and those photos only have value/catchet so long as Nintendo doesn't officially unveil. So really it would be to the leaker(s) benefit to do that.

About "mature games":
If you where 15 by 1990, you'd be 20 in 1995. Also don't forget that neither Nintendo nor Sega paused their hard- and softwareproduction in the Playstation launch window. Also everyone was free to get another console over the Playstation first. Yes PS sold more but there where some 15 years olds (including me) who went with the N64.

About the Switch's sucessor:
Nintendo could just pull out the ultimate dig move and change their plans drastically by delaying it till 2026 or later and give us an upgrade (Xboxone level) instead, just to troll the leakers. I would absolutley do it!!🤣😂

Off topic: Nobody had a more precise Switch "2" launch prediction than me. Like i pointed out numerous times, i've been laughed off for even doubting (march) 2023 not even 2 years ago. 2 years later we do not even have a fucking ANNOUNCEMENT!!🤣😂
