There is no denying that mature games were becoming more widespread in the mid-late 90s but I think that has less to do with PlayStation and more to do with the simple fact that kids who played NES/Genesis/SNES in the late 80s-early 90s were becoming teens & young adults so the market for those types of games was naturally going to grow regardless of which console was dominant.
