Fuck it is right and fuck Mass Effect 4 and all. I have no doubt it'll be a mess cause they just can't learn and the team, especially the writers are so weak and writing is so important to RPG's.
Mass Effect 4 will be fine if DA:TV is any indication of current BioWare.

If they hate better writing talent and the script isn't finalised with the current team. Only then will there be hope.
Good, I hope all their sports games and their shooters all flop too, EA should have gone out of business more than 10 years ago, but people just keep buying their slop every year.

I said all along that Dragon Age was do or die for them, EA wants to see results, and Bioware has now released 3 underperforming games in a row with Mass Effect Andromeda, Anthem, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard. AAA budgets are getting higher and higher, and the leaked sales figures for Veilguard were nowhere near what was needed to recoup the budget on a large RPG that was 9 years in development. If Bioware Edmonton is indeed closing as the leaked email indicates, I can't really say it is surprising at all.
In the end I can't say it's a huge loss either, the Bioware of today is a hollow shell of what once was, most of their top talent left years ago; Casey Hudson, Mike Laidlaw, James Ohlen, Drew Karpyshyn, David Gaider, Dan Tudge, Kevin Martens, Trent Oster, Jim Bishop; almost all of the big names that had lead roles on the classic Bioware games that you know and love, are gone now. It's basically just Mark Darrah and a bunch of people you've never heard of (some veteran, mostly newer hires) at Bioware these days, and Mark Darrah only came back in 2023 (after previously leaving) to try and bail them out, too late to have any significant effect on Veilguard.
Sadly, many of those veterans that have left Bioware are struggling in this current gaming market, several founded new studios, but I think 2 of those new studios recently had their funding pulled, resulting in one of the studios closing. Mike Laidlaw's new studio is releasing a game in like a week and a half, Eternal Strands, and I suspect it will flop because it doesn't seem to have much marketing and barely anyone knows that the game exists.

May be a bigger crash than Anthem was considering that DA4 started development 8 years ago and went through multiple reboots and turnover at the studio. Damn shame to see.
You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind
Yeah, 1.5m players in 2 months, which presumably includes people who played the free 5 trial on EA Play/Gamepass Ultimate since they are saying players instead of sales, is quite poor for Dragon Age. Dragon Age Origins shipped 3.2m copies in the first 2 months, Dragon Age 2 sold through to consumers 2m in the first 2 months, and Dragon Age Inquisition outsold both of the first 2 games in the first 2 months according to EA (though they didn't release specific numbers) and later went on to sell 12m+ lifetime.
Even Mass Effect Andromeda was estimated to have sold over 2m copies in the first month, and it was a total mess on release, reviewed about 10 points below Veilguard, had those deadeyed characters on release due to a lack of eye shading, etc..

Hopefully along with the likes of Concord and Suicide Squad this serves as an example to other publishers of what not to do.

Not like ME4 will be any good either. Bioware just makes mediocrity to garbage last 15 years.
