Probably Witcher 3: Deathmarch. It’s an older game, but I definitely had more fun with it than others this year.
Mar1217 mentioned Romancing SaGa 2, I played the remaster a few times earlier in the generation and the original back in the 90s. Great underrated game! I’d pair this one up with Romancing SaGa 3 remaster. I don’t know how I’d feel about a full 3D remake, though, since I love the FF6/RS3 style graphics in 2D.

The Witcher 3 is always more fun than any other game. :)

Do ya ever wonder why that is? 🤔  Your game of the year should essence be the game you had the best time with but we all do it, we come up with little lies we tell ourselves and black out the really shit parts of some games and that's why you get games like God of War Ragnorok or FF7 Rebirth, games with long sections people don't stop complaining about but it ends up as their GOTY anyway. It makes no sense that we do it.

idk if GotY need be the game you had most fun with. Otherwise, BotW and TotK would be my personal GotY every year since 2017 lol. And even if we restrict to new releases, BotW Remastered for NSW2 (as has been rumored to be coming) would not make sense as GotY. If it’s not an original experience, it’s doesn’t truly represent the best that this year had to offer, which is what I personally believe GotY should represent.

I suppose so but there's something to be said about complaining about so many things in a game, like FF7 Rebirth folks complaining about mini games and just glossing over all that when the time comes. It tells developers that it's okay to put nonsense into games or with Sony first party, it's okay to make things detrimentally hand holding experiences with little player agency or Sega and atlus games to have 5 second walking sequences in between cutscenes and the game will still be loved.

THPS2. The fiancee had never really played through any of the THPS games, and I had a copy of the second one on PS1. We 100% the game, even getting the gaps. It was great.

Yeah, that game is all has, no brakes pure fun. I mean, after you figure how to sustain combos, starting off is pretty frustrating.

I think the most fun I had with a game this year was Dodgeball Academia. I wasn't expecting much, it was leaving PS+ so I gave it a try and really enjoyed it.

The game I've enjoyed the most this year is the Nintendo World Championships, but I also haven't done a lot of gaming this year.

Generally speaking it would be Mario Wonder. Just a straight up blast from start to finish. I beat the game in less than a week, which typically is a quick timeframe for me.

For 2024 specifically it would be Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Goty for me is Astro Bot with FF 7 Rebirth and Stellar blade as number 2 and 3

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Super Mario Party Jamboree was the most fun for me in the sense that I could play with other people. Astro Bot was the most fun solo game but I just started Balatro, and it’s already got me hooked.
