Crisis Core is not shit lol. Genesis is the worst FF character of all time, and I legit loathe him, but the game itself is fun. It's definitely mid-2000s Nomura, but it's a fun game. It's also kinda funny ironically. Combat is solid in Crisis Core remaster. Big improvement over the PSP game.

Side note. Best Kojima game is in my signature.

Rebirth's story is fine. Remakes was a little meh but Rebirth Cloud is more like his OG self. A dork. There is some of the new stuff of course but it's fine. Cait Sith was greatly improved as a character. Rebirth is much better than Remake. It feels closer to the tone of the original. It does have a lot of mini game stuff, like a Yakuza game lol. Chadley sister is worse than him. Chocobos are great as they have a unique ability per region. Combat is slightly improved. Some new areas are fun.

The mini games are my only worry for sure - I despised mini games in Breath of Fire III and since then been wary about mini games in RPGs.

The ice cream mini game from KH Birth By Sleep especially....ugh bad memories lol

Aside from some minor annoying moments in Remake (the bike boss fight and battles) , I really like FFVII Remake.

Oh right. Persona 5 Royal will take a mighty long time 😆

Have you tried Crisis Core before? It's pretty shit, even the Remaster. Just not a good game, the vombat system is absolute ass, you'd think it would be relevant with Zack but it is in no way needed for Rebirth.

I'd say my interest of Hideo Kojima games would be akin to your interest of FF7 and I would have said there's no way E33 would hold up with sonething from Kojima or the world buklding of Myizaki of From Soft but it does and it does it in a way that's not convoluted at all. It's just straight art. Would hold up with anything fron the recent golden age of TV and the film is def gonna be a hit cause the premise is so unique, it's been done before but still feels fresh and new.

I played Crisis Core back when it first came out on PSP like late 2000s. I absolutely loved it lol.

First time I played a mission based game too (which made me love Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, another mission based game).

The combat system was okay, at the time, it was the only action RPG in the FFVII series and I loved it. Looking back and compared to what I played over the years, Remake shits over Crisis Core's gameplay but story wise I really enjoyed it.

Kojima wise I love MGS 1, 2, 3 and Peace Walker. 4 was okay, storyline great but gameplay eh, mainly due to the UI and too much going on in the screen.

Havent played MGSV yet but planning to throw that in this year as well.

A lot of V's lol - I've finished Shin Megami Tensei V and GTA V. Planning to play MGSV and Persona 5 as well lol.

Indeed. It's like V for Vendetta in your library. MGSV is a masterpiece in the fact that it is the perfect stealth action game, best ever imo and an amazing 80's action simulator. If you loved Peace Walker you'll love it, basically the same with better production and mission variety but insanely better gameplay, I have doubts even Kojima Productions will be able to get close to what they done there with Physant or whatever it's called. Story in V is weak and unfinished but if you don't take it too seriously it's fantastic. I have 622 hours in that game most of it role-playing as an action hero and making my own stories in my head. It's so fucking cool, a wonderful sandbox emergent type game.

Clair 33 is slowly starting to lose my attention. Any time I step off the main story path the side content is so disproportionately difficult, honestly what’s the point? I’m level 40, got the parry system down and I’m playing on story mode all whilst being able to easily hit the damage limit and … I can’t beat anything that’s not on the main story path. It’s so discouraging. Feels like the developers don’t want you exploring at all.

There is side content and there is end game content lol. Wait till the

damage cap

is removed first. You are coming across content that's designed for you to get to when you're level 70 or 80. It is a problem even in end game, you'll be going back and forth but man, you really should have stayed on Normal or above, you should have been failing bosses and learning the timings of all enemies along the way, it's less about having the parry down and more about knowing the timings of certain attack chains and having the timing down to a degree where you can go up against these enemies when they are much harder and have back up nd being able to hold your own esspecially for one end game gaunlet area for long periods of time is a must. It would be shit and the magic would be lost to have level numbers in areas or above enemies although there is a red danger sign for areas that are well above your level, take a step back and don't completely rush, the game will still be there, ya don't need to finish is all right now. The idea is you judge how strong an enemy is and if you feel you have a chance do it try it, if not come back later. Divinity OS2 has the same problem of having high level stuff spread across hap hazardly around an open world map and you attempting this stuff may cause you to waste massive amounts of time and there are maps online that colour code areas to show where you should aim for at certain levels, idk if there is here but there should be a guide or something to help that'll probably order areas for you, would help to look for one of those.

If you aren't enjoying failing, learning and then pulling a fight off you may want to drop the game, I spent over an hour fighting one overworld boss and it it was a joy. You'll eventually start to outbuild stuff mid way through end game and gaining some key pictos will bring things closer towards your favour and at that point building becomes the fun thread mill of the game until eventually you build so well you can kill a mob stronger than you in one turn and further refine those rotations or.... one shot mobs with one character should you look up a guide (DO NOT)... but that's quite a bit off yet if you haven't finished the story and would make for a very dull experience should you come on that stuff too early, let over building happen naturally and experiment as you progress and are able to take on those tough mobs/bosses or you'll be in for one hell of a slog.

Again, do what you can, leave the stuff that is extremely difficult and push on with the story, enjoy yourself. Take it easy.

Beat Trokka and Bellarian in Khazan. I really hope this game is coming to an end cause those two bosses, especially Trokka are such an absurd level of difficult even for this style of game. It has gone so far past Sekiro late game bosses or Nioh 2 that it's in another stratosphere. This genre is coming to an end soon enough, they can't go any more difficult and ecpect that of the player in any meaningful way than add insane boss health bars and now that they have pushed this so much that everything else will feel so much easier unless it follow suit with the health pools and at this level it's just absurd, it would take new mechanics to start from the ground up. I suspect the genre is in its late stages.

I will give the game one thing, it forces you into long fights where you have to get good, there is no other option and it's the first game I have consistently changed my build, style and approach to playing the game, ever boss or every second boss I'm coming at with a different approach and changing things up mid attempt, it's very cool.

Asura's Wrath, a crazy mix of rail shooter, character action, and interactive drama. Easily an 8 or 9 out of 10.

Khazan went and pulled a Lies of P, it's getting close to the end of the game and it might not be challenging enough, Let's throw as many high level enemies per square inch as possible just to make sure. Probably gonna drop this game, I'd really like to see the final boss but this is the point in Lies of P where the game which had already dropped to a 7 dropped to a 6 for me. Shit design that enemies are so closely grouped together in a one V one game. It's just run past enemies time and get no EXP at all.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition (PS5) - going to start playing this today, watched the history of DMC movie that came with it and tweaked settings.

Driveclub (PS4 on PS5) - Playing through the DLC still - just finished the RPM Championship.

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot (NS) - Started the Majin Buu Saga

Super Smash Bros Ultimate (NS) - on hold, waiting for Switch 2.

----

Finished Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (PC) few days ago and had a great experience with it. Exceeded my expectations and easily solidified itself in my  top 10 FF game list.

Recommend playing it, especially on PC where I played it at 4K 120 FPS.

Next set of games I plan to play....

-Mario Kart World (NS2)

Played Wonder Boy (Master System) until the first boss just to remember and hear again the cool boss theme.

Finished Wolfenstien II for a 3rd time on a 3rd system. Even killed all Uberkommandos. Still too much time to kill before Doom TDA.
