It's so fucked. Clair obscur requires you to ping the Internet. I guess you could pause the update download and keep it paused something I when it works but no matter what settings I lock auto updating from occurring, it always restarts at some point. I think I will be buying physical for very long games anymore so I can revert to 1.0 if things so sideways but there's the issue of broken saves and files not working with earlier updates or 1.0 files not working with updates which is staggeringly frustrating, TW3 broke my 200+ hour save.

Ugh, we are totally driving off a cliff, aren't we? Progress is becoming regression in gaming and all other areas of life and society it seems, tech or no tech.

Ha you're not kidding. Often I find it faster just to go some place and talk to someone than to figure out how to do it online. The 'convenience' of doing shit online is just convenience for them, not for you. You do all the work filling out their infernal forms that bug out, reset and/or lead to problems causing you to wait on the phone or chat support.

@BasilZero Yep, better to get appliances from a local thrift store than buy a new one every 6 months lol. We reverted back to our ancient microwave when the new one blew itself up. Ancient radio still works despite leaving it outside all winter every year. Ancient fan still works, also used outside all the time. New ones just break. Ancient toaster oven. I'm typing on an ancient keyboard, ACER 70s beige, no BS led lighting lol. Got a converter plug from ps/2 to USB taped on :)

Hence I'm in no hurry to get a new laptop, as long as it still works, why bother upgrading.

Silver lining, retro gaming will still be there when all the new consoles have burned themselves out. The Intellivision my wife bought at a garage sale still works! It came with a whole box of games and speech synthesizer add-on as well, all works.

The most annoying is people have turned into zombies, staring into their phone with earbuds in. Effing move out of the way, you're not the only one in the world. Yes I have a bell, you just can't hear it with your earbuds in you cunt. I jog now, too much road rage riding a bicycle LOL. Don't know why people always stop at a crossing blocking all directions to browse their fucking phone. When running I squeeze by or dodge cars on the road, but mostly go on trails to get away from people.

I'm a bit weird though. It was busy on the trails as well today (finally a nice Sunday) so I took my shoes off and waded through the river to the other side which is otherwise not accessible. So nice, no people just some deer, follow the game trails. I went on a scavenger hunt and came back with my pockets filled with animal bones, couple Raccoon skulls while carrying the spine of a deer with head and half the ribs still attached. People moved out of the way on my way back lol. (Most didn't even notice, just looking at their phone)

Best time of the year to go looking for stuff, flood waters pushed all the remaining vegetation down while the new stuff is just starting to sprout. And no mosquitos yet. (But sad to also find trash everywhere, got to bring a garbage bag next time to clean up after people)

Currenly playing through dynasty warriors origins. I'm really enjoying it. It feels like a next gen game because of the amount of enemies on screen and all the action going on. It really makes you feel like you're on a battle fields. It's a new experience for me so i'm glad i decided to try it.

Everspace 2. Picked it back up after starting my second watch of The Expanse.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

120hrs into this playthrough of Stardew Valley, and I’m actually more invested than ever. Wasn’t at first but definitely going for perfection on this farm. For the first time in months I’m not just turning my brain off and playing but I’m actively engrossed, and honestly for the first time in a long time I’m actually enjoying playing a video game. SDV since it launched almost a decade ago has been a game I fall back to when I need to remember why I enjoy video games to begin with. I’ve fallen outta love for modern gaming so I’m glad for SDVs existence.

Good to hear you found something you can slow down with and enjoy something. I got a bit thst way with meta gaming on plats the last two months but Clair Obscur is doing the exact same thing for me as SDV is for you. What would you say is a decent time sink into that game before you get really hooked? I can never make it past the second winter cause it annoys me that all my summer work is ruined and I never get to automation, if there are green houses it would really benefit the game to give them to you during the second winter and shorten the winter season a good chunk and elongating the summer two fold.

Clair Obscur continues to be one of the best games I've played this gen, up there with Elden Ring in how it is making me feel and I know I can't have much left in it's main story, I'm afraid to finish this and for once I want one of these games to be Atlus sized or at the very least Like a Dragon mainline size and then the side content also. Thankfully the side and post game content keeps things going, the platinum isn't too easy and there is a NG+ with new stuff in it. I'm hoping for a boss gauntlet patch and a photo mode patch too before I set this one aside. I'll be keeping this game installed and like Stellar Blade, I'll be returning often. I've given five games a 10/10 this generation or since 2020 but this is the first 10/10 that is 10/10 and also flawless perfection or at least very, very close. There is almost nothing to forgive and the very minor stuff can be addressed in a patch like Lip Sync for English VA. I suspect they will address it.

Clair obscur E33 is a game, like Versus Evil said above about Stardew, that has brought out every reason why I love video games on all fronts and has brought me great joy. On every definable category it has a chance to win GoTY apart from genre specific awards. It is high art and as they say peak video gaming. I highly recommend the game. I would even say buy two copies and gift one to someone you have a crush on cause they might fall in love with you over it, gift it to your wife so you can lock it in that she'll never divorce you after such a gesture. I can't quite tell yet, til I finish and the dust settles but it's in my top ten at least and has a good chance at reaching into my top 5 amongst games like Bloodborne and The Witcher 3.

I get hooked basically from the start lol. You start with a broken greenhouse that you can either fix by completing the Community Centre bundles (if you select first year completion you can get your greenhouse before year 2) or buy from the JoJo corp for 35k, but I’d never sell myself out to the JoJo corp and buying a JoJo membership locks you out of following the Community Center path. Winter is my favourite season of all, the first time you get there and realise you can’t grow crops (1.6 added Powdermelons at least) is a complete game changer.

I suppose they want you to go to the dungeon at winter and ya, gotta stay strong against big food :)

Taking a break from Oblivion Remastered (modded to get those saturated colors again) to get my Command & Conquer fix with Tempest Rising! After 5 hours so far, the game is everything I hoped it would be and more. Surprisingly deep story. graphics look fantastic, performance is like butter, soundtrack is heavy metal kick ass, and the combat is exhilarating! That was something I loved about C&C was the bigger emphasis on combat rather than resources. Combat is straight out of a Michael Bay movie explosions galore. And the in-game menus/loading screens are a thing of beauty.

Tempest Rising is already up there as GOTY candidate for me!
