Unless you sit unreasonably close to the TV or have a 90+ foot TV set/projector. Sitting at a reasonable 10 feet from my 50 inch I can't see shit all difference between fidelity and RT performance mode in Rachet and clank which is the lowest resolution setting against the highest. At 5 feet still can't see much of a differnce but the image very slightly pops a little more, now get on it at three feet it starts to become apparent and the clarity increase isn't apparent unti you get two feet from the TV, It takes getting real close and identifying the clarity. RT modes are nice but they're still so weak that it just looks like a contrast boost unless you're very close to a light source or directly over water or beside a glass reflection.

With the way the PRO is being utilised it is the most useless, overpriced piece of tech. Perhaps on a 70" screen at a reasonable distance it'll make the image pop more but for we the majority with 50 inches give or take ten, it's not gonna be noticeable again, at a reasonable distance.

I bought the PS4 PRO and that was a big step up, really noticeable with a new 4k TV while comparing to my old 1080 set with the base pS4. Not a generational leap but a really big bump up and also brought around the Performance/fidelity modes we see on the ps5 today. Shadow of the collosus remake was actually kinda mind blowing and pretty close to a generational leap as we knownit today. Now, for this machine to be worth it's price tag it really has to make use of the hardware to actually make the graphics better, the devs using it in the same way PC graphics scale as you up the settings. Spending 800-875 euro for an image that'll pop slightly more to the eye is wild.

Please, prove me wrong. I've only seen one game where this hardware is justified and that is Dragons Dogma 2, the devs were actually able to optimise the game properly with the new hardware. Perhaps in the future we will see it utilised in this manner and it'll be worth the upgrade. Bring on the new Sony first party games to actually make use of the new tech.

It feels like the PS5 Pro will be what the PS5 was originally promised to be when it first launched. Even then, 30fps still cannot be escaped on such a pricey device.

A linear game like Alan Wake 2 will still have a 30fps mode.

But I know many will still be very appreciative of the consoles capabilities and will feel it was money well spent, but I don’t play enough of my PS5 to be able to justify it. At least I still have a trade in option if I one day change my mind. So it’ll basically be if I’m buying a normal PS5 with a trade in lol

Worth the money if you didnt buy a PS5

Waste of money if you already have a PS5.

Double the framerate is very noticeable.

FF7 Rebirth is a great example of the PS5 Pro enhancing things. PSSR will be a game changer for some titles over the next few years though for many games the difference won't be that noticeable. How worth it it is mostly comes down to how much someone wants to play everything at 60fps when that's an option and wants to avoid certain games looking poor when using the performance mode.

I didn't see many 120 fps games on the list. If this was a goal of some studios then, yeah, that's pretty cool but plenty of 120 fps games on PS5 already. I seen the full list and it's surprisingly big. To me 60 is just fine and every ps5 game, almost had a 60fps mode.

Yeah, getting rid of artiifacting is pretty much the biggest boon of the console, I suppose it comes down to how sensitive you are to it. Oddly enough, It bothers me for about 10 minutes and then I don't notice it anymore at all albeit from what I seen of Wu Kong, I don't think I'd get used to it being that bad.

This might take the crown to be the least necessary thing of all time in all of gaming.

I imagine there will be some late gen titles that'll look and run really poorly on the base PS5 so the Pro will start really making a difference probably 2026 onwards. Though it seems the performance mode for Monster Hunter Wilds might look crappy so perhaps that'll start next year.

I don't think Concord can be topped that easily.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.
