My personal hope is that PS5 Pro gets the Concord treatment in terms of sales, and leads SNY to go back to a single affordable launch console (digital+optical) and a 5-6 year generation.
As long as the hardware remains x86 based, early next gen games can always still be made to be cross gen for a while if devs chose to take that route.
I think PS5 should've been 8TF and $399 this gen if they were going to do another mid gen console.
I wish it would've just been the $499 launch PS5, then PS5 Slim until 2025-2026, and then the PS6 at $499.

It's so strange to see these companies struggle like this. Over the last thirty years, I've seen Nintendo and Sony bounce between being gods and clowns over and over again. And in Microsoft's case, they literally beat the Wii in the US with the 360... and then decided that the right play was to to sell a TV-box a few years later that couldn't play used games.
Why are these companies so bad at predicting what gamers want from gen to gen? Are they that detached? It makes no sense to me.
$549.99 for PSVR2
$449.99 for PS5 Slim Digital, $499.99 for PS5 Slim
$79.99 for a disc drive that requires the internet to pair.
No vertical stand included for any Slim or Pro model, pay up for $29.99.
$699.99 for PS5 Pro with no included disc drive.
$69.99 for The Last of Us Part I and $49.99 for The Last of Us Part II Remastered
DualSense controllers increased in price by $5
Massive PS Plus price increases in 2023 with little added benefits.
Sony has made it clear they're in mid-2000s level of arrogance again when the PS3 was being developed and released. Nothing is ever guaranteed but there's a good chance PS6 struggles out the gate if the arrogance continues.
Lifetime Sales Predictions
Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)
PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 48 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million)
PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)
3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Jesus feels like any negative news from either Xbox or Sony leads to someone trying to bring up doom and gloom threads. This is an optional console you don't have to buy and exclusives? Come on man are you trolling with that comment.

Not everyone is a blind fan boy, I think for myself and not like a damn chicken. I was saying this before the PRO reveal. Plenty of other threads I've said it in but since Concord and now this I wonder what others are thinking. You don't have to comment if you don't want to answer the question, don't go straight to " You have to be trolling". It's a perfectly valid question and based on the poll I'm not the only one. I haven't felt this way since the PS3 and even then I had faith in Sony but their practices and attitude are now making me loose faith fast and hard since PS5 was released, it's just been another kick in the balls after kick in the balls from European games costing near 100 euro, the closure of Japan studios, moving Shuhei to indies where he can't do anything creative, releasing the ungliest console since the before 6th gen, the sense that they think they're apple and have an allegiance strong enough to shove shit down peoples throughts without reprecussion,10 euro upgrade plans instead of easy BC, throwing out the most generic crap like Destruction All stars and concord while avoiding IP we want and have called for, for years to this slap in the face with the PRO plus everything Wyman said above this post. I'm life long Sony gamer, been with them since '98 so it takes a lot for them to fuck up to get me considering other options. Team Asobi is carrying the whole damn company on their backs rights now and no sign of the other studios 4 years into the generation.
I likely will upgrade to PS5 cause there is little other options for me being priced out of PC gaming and Xbox not quite being a secured system with their recent multiplat stuff but I'd nearly go for a used console to spite the Sony leadership, the dickheads that they've become.
Last edited by LegitHyperbole - on 11 September 2024Their profit margins are so thin in gaming and they're trying to nickle and dime as much as they can get for the later half of this generation. Not stained yet but I was acc looking to treat myself this holiday and get a Pro. Leaning towards getting the Quest 3 instead after seeing the price of the Pro.

It's your comment about the games that makes me question the trolling because it's just flat out false and makes no sense. People were saying Insomniac was carrying Sony now Asobi release one game this year and now they are carrying Sony? Did Arrowhead do nothing for Sony releasing the biggest GAAS this year?
"No signs of the other studios in 4 years?"
Like am I supposed to take this comment seriously and just assume you're trolling me or what? Spiderman 2 came out last year. I'm cool having serious conversations about Sony and the moves they are making but when you just say things that are a lie and you know they are a lie what am I supposed to think?

Exactly. I stuck with them back then through the rough but I'm not a teenager anymore, they can't rely on their aging base like they think they can, they aren't apple. The 10th gen could swing very badly for them if they don't get it together cause Xbox is over there incubating games and trying at innovation. It looks mighty tempting had they not started this multiplat stuff and leave doubt of the hardware security for us.
Sadly, I'm almost forced to upgrade to PS5 cause I have no other route to the games I want to play but I can't say I'll be their 10th gen.
