Forums - Nintendo Discussion - When will Nintendo reveal Switch 2?

I think there's very little overlap between people who waited 8 years+ to buy the Switch and early enthusiast console adopters, so probably this year.

Call me crazy…but I’m thinking September (or October) 2024.

Yeah, the theory took fire when that "Brasil" guy made the claim about Nintendo taking the Indie Direct/Partner Showcase forwards earlier than it was supposed to.

Since then, most think it's because the Switch successor is about to enter manufacturing which will lead to the inevitable reveal before the usual manufacturing leaks happen

I don't think they will reveal it in October, they already claimed it wouldn't come out in March, unlike Switch.

That's true, but plenty of hardware has gotten revealed more than 5 months in advance.

Even with a "no earlier than April" forecast for Switch 2's release, they can build up the hype longer. An October unveiling isn't too early for instance even if it doesn't come out until June or later next year.

I don't even think unveiling Switch 2 before the holiday season would be enough to halve the upcoming Holiday 2024 sales. Reduce it somewhat? Yeah, that's possible.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 48 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

huh. Didn’t even think about the manufacturing aspect. NSW was revealed with five months between reveal and launch, giving only a short period of time to produce systems. This fits well with Nintendo’s likely modest expectations of 2mil F’16 and <10mil F’17. Being that Nintendo is prolly anticipating NSW Successor to at least *double* these figures, it’d make sense they would shoot for a longer period from reveal to launch.

So, September for beginning of mass production with Summer 2025 release seems very sensible. I trust that Brazilian dude, some “leakers” just know what’s going on.

I don’t know.

We reap what we sow

Jan or Feb.

I don't see any reason they would do it before the holidays, as they are going to be trying to push the Switch to whatever smallish holiday season it can get, it would only hurt Switch sales to announce the next system leading up to the holidays.

I'm expecting a late-Spring launch so Jan/Feb reveal and then showing off stuff in-depth in March seems about right for a timeline. They don't need a huge long run-up to launch, because everyone knows its coming anyway, and especially if it is just an iteration on the Switch as everyone expects. They just need a few months to build up the excitement before launch. So a Jan/Feb reveal for a ~June launch would be good.

I can't wait to see the reveal. I am very interested in seeing the final specs. It should be a huge jump compared to the switch. Games like luigi and pikmin should look stunning.

I'm hoping for a 1440p 60 fps TP and WW port(s).
