It’s “only” 67k yen. It’s doing fine for the high price.

At this point back in 2017, the Slim was 30k yen and the pro around 40k yen.

There's a bit of a dip in Switch hardware sales this week. It will be interesting to see if this continues or if hardware sales go back up. Switch still gains on YTD 2019 regardless.

It's more or less getting back in track with how prior playstations (3 & 4) performed (LTD), people have had really unrealistic expectations for playstation hardware on both end of the spectrum. In the early years when it was supply constraint some were doubting whether it would outsell the Wii U, then last year when it had it's mega inflated sales due to built up demand suddenly people expected that to be the baseline. 

The question is will the system be able to repeak, or at least establish a higher baseline further down the road (Price cut/Slim Model/Monster Hunter/King Hearts etc) or whether this slow down is permanent. A second wind would be expected with 2025 looking to be a huge year, but I don't know whether a price cut is gauranteed which is kind of needed to enable it.

Sadly? Why? This game got more sales than it actually deserves.

At least they fixed the controls and actually put some effort in the graphics and music compared to the past 20 years in 2d mario. Sure the seed is way over done, game is super easy and the over World is terrible compared to other 2d mario games but hopefully they won't make a return for the next mario game.
